He kind of looks like Tsuna from KHR... Darn you spiky hair. Backgrounds + spiky hair = not my best. I think the background could've had a few chairs in it also to make it more interesting? Composition is extremely important! As for the background, I feel that it was just thrown in there like a second thought. When you draw something, think of backgrounds as environments, a place for your characters to interact on. Backgrounds will automatically better if your character(s) actually are doing something related to where they are at, trust me. However, I looove the coloring and the lineart in this drawing. The expression is fantastic, and I love the color mixtures in the shading.
