Hollywood ruins everything
So for those who don't know. Priest is this awesome manhwa(korean comic/manga/whatever/it's awesome) published by Tokyopop. I remember actually reading the first few chapters yeaaaarrrs ago. Then it went silent for a bit lol.
If you haven't read it, but love action and vampires and shit. I'd recommend finding a site somewhere. (I have one....good luck on your journey though)
Apparently it was to be made into a movie a few years back, but it got trashed for some reason. And then all the sudden it was revived, and I'm like EFF YEA!!
But then I saw the trailer...and the western style seen in the manhwa was switched up to some random ass dystopian future with few of the western elements left...And some kind of religious order called 'Priests'. Wtf.
I'm still hoping it'll be badass. But really, was the hollywood switch really needed for this? By the gods...WHY PRIEST? WHYYYYY.
Never heard of it till now lol.
Is a priest. A alcoholic, scamer priest who can control people.
I'll have to check that out...after I finish reading Priest. Crap, so far behind.
Priest is an awesome manga. I also read it a while while, but stopped when it went flat and just havent got back round to reading it yet. I also heard they will make a movie of it an it will suck donkey balls. Any hollywood movie adapted from any kind of comic/manga will suck donkey dick. Sure Sin City had its moments, Watchman was passable, but only cause they used the comics as a storyboard for the movies. If they have removed the western element of Priest, then it wont be Priest. It'll be shite.
The problem is not making movies of comics, the problem is not respecting the original source. Watchman was awesome (of course doesn't bring you all the concept behind, but it does it very good), Kick-ass was better than the comic (it is), Scott Pilgrim become its own movie (it wasn't a homage to the comic, but a complete new experience), Sin City was awesome to, and what bout the Dark Knight? the first Spider Man movies? The Rocketeer? The Crow? and Road to Perdition?
I know the movie priest is going to suck asses because:
-The director is the one from legion, who apparently didn't have enough with doing that movie.
-Cory Goodman. No one knows this screen writer (because he only wrote one movie in his career, and its this).
With only this 2 things is enough to predict a epic failure. But at the end the failure is from the creator, who agree with this shit.
PD: I hope the movie end being good and not a bunch of shit.
I have my hopes. But when I saw the director made Legion I threw most of it out the window...I wonder if the people even read the fking manhwa all the way. Or just decided to cash in on something epic.
Speaking about hollywood making shittastic movies out of nostalgia, have you heard about the upcoming Akira live-action movie?
i heard loads of people (even George Takei A.K.A. Mr.Sulu) are starting petitions against it because all the characters are being whitebreaded (Asian characters being played by white actors)
Dude, hollywood RARELY reads it's source material. they just take something nostalgic and shit out a blasphemous pile of elephant shit called a movie.I have my hopes. But when I saw the director made Legion I threw most of it out the window...I wonder if the people even read the fking manhwa all the way. Or just decided to cash in on something epic.
Look at M.Night Shamylans The Last Airbender, this has probably got to be the first movie i've ever seen with the most invisible 3D effects, like ever. and the story? Sweet fucking Jesus reading tentacle porn... IT WAS JUST A BUNCH OF EVENTS FROM THE ANIMATED SERIES PASTED TOGETHER WITH COWPIE, FULL OF ASSMAGGOTS PRESENTED AS WITH AN ASSRAPING BY A GIANT CACTUS SYMBOLIZING THE INCONSISTENCIES TOWARDS THE ANIMATED SERIES, AT THE SPEED OF A DESPERATE SHAG WITH A DEAD HOOKER IN A DUMPTRUCK!!!!!!!!111!!one!!21121
There, that about covers it...
