That's rare. Another guy who wants to get into them, huh. I suggest starting off with the generic ones because they are good at first, but gradually get worse. That way you'll appreciate the good ones more. Or you can just jump into the good ones. Whatever tickles your pickle. You may not even like them, but here are a few to watch/read:

Clannad / Clannad After Story
Itazura Na Kiss
Kare Kano (Never seen it, heard it was good)
Chobits

My list sucks but there are literally hundreds of the things, just search google for the best and you will usually get good results.

You could also watch some shoujos animes if yur like me yur 2 lazy to read AND click so instead read subtitles.

You should read 20th Century Boys. I force Tzvety and Joao, and now their lifes have changed forever.

Bya, you should go and search my list of mangas (I think I post'd it in some where of the site) in there you can find a lot of cool mangas.
