no certifications for me ^-^. we have a club down at our beach, and you become an official lifeguard when ur fourteen. we also have championships and carnivals where clubs from different beaches vs each other
Doesn't sound very safe at all. I definitely wouldn't put my life in the hands of 14-year-olds! I doubt they'd even be big enough to get someone out of the water, not to mention strong enough to give CPR.

I think the required age to become a lifeguard should be something like 18, minimum.
16 is what it is here. My sister got her license at 16 and she's a really great guard.
Eh, well, either way, It doesn't matter to me, I was always a good swimmer.
