Hm... not sure if we're talking about the same thing. Using SAI, you can create a 'vector' layer to do lineart in - try this tutorial.

New stuff looks good, by the way =)

Much better line art man. I personally don't use the vector option for my lineart. I find that using the vector tool on complex pieces gets a bit unwieldy. So I just use the normal pen tool in general.

In the contest piece why are the girl's eyes open? It seems less romantic that way. D: Also, it looks like his fingers are ripping through her hair, maybe you could attempt to draw out separate locks of hair to make it look less like a solid mass of hair.

Nyarlathotep: THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IM ENLIGHTENED WITH THE KNOWLEDGE OF PRESSURE AND WIDTH EDITING ON MY LINE-ART CUZ OF YOU THANKS THANKS!!!!!!!

Nisaren: Her eyes are open cuz she was supposed to be surprised and tired at the same time ^-^' ...it seems that i didn't get the desired effect.....darn....And the hair....well i have no excuses for that. I tired doing more and thinner strands of hair.....it looked like spaghetti.....and not good ones.......-__-' Also thanks for the line-art compliment!

And some more sai art trying to do references of the charas from the manga.....since i was so eager to do it with no actual reference material of my Ocs, other than what was in my(and that source isn't veary liable...-_-)

TwT the line-art tools really help, and the tutorial too................thanks Nyarlathotep!!!!

Cool, man, glad to see you figured out those tools - lineart looks great!

You might want to try making the shading a little sharper - as in, more contrast between dark/light - soft smooth shading with clean lineart looks a bit odd on areas that are supposed to have depth, like the folds in Suzette's clothing. Additionally, I think the hair lineart would look better if the lines went 'deeper' into the coloring - your coloring has so much depth of itself that when the lineart doesn't match it it seems a bit flat.

Anyway, those are just some suggestions for stuff to experiment with... nothing too significant. This is looking really good, keep it up!

I treid doing this in a cell shade fashion, but i cant do SH** with cell-shading. Also i did this quite simple which i hate !!!! oh well Tell me what else do you see that is wrong in this artwork? If you're going for cell shading you really need to have colors with sharper edges. If you're still using SAI to do art, the best method I found to accomplish this is to put your base colors down on seperate layers. After that then you create a new layer above each base color layer and choose the Clipping Layer option then just use the pen tool with whatever color you want to shade or highlight with. The clipping layer option will make sure that you only color over top of the base color of the layer below.

If you're doing cell-shading, you should never use Blur, Air-brush, or a soft-brush. Otherwise you're not doing cell-shading. If you want to use blur or gradients then you'll be doing the soft-cell shading. Regardless, you should get out of the habit of using blur, airbrush or soft brushes. Your coloring will look a ton better.
