Dio-era Sabbath were probably superior to Ozzy-era, though both gave substantial contributions to the development of metal. More symphonic and orchestral-style metal comes from Dio (among others, e.g. Led Zeppelin), while more black metal and 'heavy' metal comes from Ozzy. Or that's the impression that I get.
