I do this like every five seconds.
I do this like every five seconds.
I do it a lot especially when I'm nervous.
I did when I was a kid. Now I have thick knuckles. And the last time I swung a bowling ball, it wouldn't come off my thumb.
In your joints, there's these little bubble like things, and when you crack your knuckles, what you're doing is just breaking the bubbles up into smaller bubbles. That's what the cracking sound is. And if anyone tells you its bad for your fingers, don't listen because it's perfectly fine... Probably.
I did that long time ago (I was a kid too), but now I really regret of having done that. Now my knuckles always cracking even when I don't want to... I wonder why... Not only my knuckles, but also my wrist.
Anyway, it's bad for your fingers, but only after you get very old (considering if you still alive at that point)... so don't worry too much... Unless you are an (or will be) artist, just like me.
Knuckle popping factsThere have been a few studies to see whether or not cracking knuckles caused arthritis. None have found that there was an increase of arthritis among knuckle-crackers; nevertheless, a relationship was discovered between knuckle-cracking, hand swelling and lower grip strength, damage to ligaments surrounding the joints and dislocation of tendons.
The conclusion of the studies indicated that while knuckle-cracking was not associated with arthritis, it was associated with damage to ligaments that surround the joint and dislocation of tendons. There may also be a connection with soft tissue injuries.
I only do it to act like I'm gonna beat someone up
I used to pop my knuckles alot whenever I said I wanted to leave a place. Like I'd pop my knuckles and be like lets get out of here.
And my brother and my friends later confessed that they thought I was going to beat them up.
