Yeah is basically that, but it's kinda a little more complex (and expensive) than that. For example the meat need to be cooked with sake and soy. And the soup take 4 hours (in the easy and less traditional version) to cook.

Yeah there's real legit ramen that takes a lot of time and preparation.

And then there is minimum wage ramen which takes like 15 minutes and a tea pot.

I like minimum wage ramen but I think that might be because that's the only kind I've had.

 The best ramen I ever tasted had oysters, crab meat, bamboo shoots, slice of pork, corn, that swirly white and pink thing, and bean sprouts. Yuuuuuum!

I'm not a fan of oysters and crab, but bamboo shoots sound like they'd be good in ramen. And those swirly things are called narutomaki which is a kind of kamaboko. Kamaboko is a kind of seafood product where different kinds of fish are puréed and pressed into that shape, where they're cured and eventually sliced and served on noodle dishes. The more you know!

If kamaboko taste anything like fish ball (the ones you get in Vietnamese noodle soup), then ew. I might have to try the Japanese version, though.

Okay, that's good. Because fish balls are really, really horrible.

I'm thinking about trying to make real ramen sometime this week. I found a half a brisket on markdown at the store and wanted to try something different. Plus it's cold as fuck outside and we need some kind of soup.
