My dad worked for a machine shop and the owner had the awesome idea to make roller blades that were motorized and had my dad making them. They used either weed whacked or lawn mower motors and got up to like 40mph. They even used them for a tv movie about a futuristic America where crime is way up and there are special task forces that use the motorized roller blades to go chasing after criminals because a car can't fallow them everywhere.
He had a patent for them but idk what he ever did with them because they really didn't catch on. Kinda bulky and heavy if I remember correctly.
