I think you should just do all the sketches first before you make the final pages.

I don't mean I've drawn it, just written the script for it, lol. It's a one shot that is 30 pages total, well 31 with title page.
Well... still. 30 pages can be a lot when converted into manga pages. So, did you start on character designs yet? :3

I'm debating between an adaption of some kind of fairy tale and a short prequel to a series I'm planning to write. what do you guys think I should pick?
Yeah, but a lot of those pages are details. Which you don't actually write, but draw.
Flip a coin man. My 2 cents is that an adaptation, (like what I'm doing) will help you get used to the process. On the other hand, doing your prequel will help you get started in the creative process.
