It's double elimination and these were the placement matches. I assume this is done so that the stronger entries don't crush the others before they have a chance. I'm not sure about this following part, but I don't think anyone lost any chances by losing the placement matches.

it was just the placement match No need to panic. the actual elimination start as soon as the poll is reset. Then if you lose, you're out. Now they just sorted it into 2 brackets.
