    Del's Terrible Scrawlings

Hey guys, I'm not an artist but I'd be interested in improving my art anyway. Feel free to give any sort of critique you like, the harsher the better.

I drew this yesterday, from reference. It took me way too long and a better artist could've done it quicker and better, but eh. His abdomen is too short, his left arm is slightly out of place and poorly-shaded, and his head is a disaster area. I abandoned it for those reasons, but if you've got any more it'd be great to hear them. Reference comes first, then the drawing itself.

    SPOILER! :

I drew some stuff from life the day before that, including this white rose. The shading is abominable, and again it's not complete, but I'd be interested to hear people's thoughts on the proportions of the thing.

    SPOILER! :

The guy is pretty damn good Delpenis!!! You didn't get some proportions around the hips but whatever!!! The shading is really awesome and it really looks alike. As for the rose....meh its good. But compared to the guy....its meh.
    Problem?

To give you an idea of how quickly I work, here's a 15m sketch of a gnome from my back garden.

Wow! The shading on that guy is definitely amazing! C:
I'm no genius at art, but my art teacher last year told us to practise contouring our outlines. I think you should practise that too. You can get better at 'seeing' things. It will also help you grasp the shapes of the object you are drawing.
Again I'm no art genius, but you could try it out. C:

Contour drawings sound like a good idea. I'll probably use cross-contour lines to add volume, and also practice value drawing.
