Widely influential french Master comic artist Jean Giraud, aka Moebius, died today of cancer in Paris at age 73.
Goodbye Moebius.
Man, I didn't know the dude, but it always sucks when a good person dies. At the least, the dude left behind what looks to be some hella awesome stuff.
Same thing happened with my favorite artist (cancer, early 30's), picked up bits his style after I did a tribute drawing, haven't looked back.
Hope he rests well.

Damn. Really wish I had heard about this. Moebius is a major influence of mine. A major influence on the creators of Blame! and Panzer Dragoon, too. Just watch Naussica of the Valley of the wind, and you can tell how good freinds he and Miyazaki were, aswell...
Absolutely irreplaceable. He'll be missed alright.

I've been thinking about picking up some of his work.
So it goes. RIP.
There was a big article about him in the local newspaper today
How come your newspaper is so dang cool, huh?
But man, this really is a shame. I never knew his work until now, but I like his work a lot and wish I knew it sooner.
