Drowramble? Drowramble. Today is the first in hopefully 8 Drowrambles about the current eight Great Houses. First up is Great House Chaon.


Great House Chaon
Motto: Yaithn'belaern xor Vharcan (Repayment or Revenge)

Great House Chaon is by far the wealthiest of the Drow houses and has been for some time. Primarily merchants and money-lenders by trade, Great House Chaon have a reputation for trustworthiness - at least insofar as business is concerned, and even then by primarily by highly relative Drow standards - and enjoy trade relations with not only the Drow but with many Duergar and Svirfneblin polities. Much of the Adamantine goods used by the Drow come by way of Chaon traders. The Chaon also have many profitable plantations and mines throughout Garethkulggen and are arguably the dominant Drow faction in the region.
The house is ostensibly based out of Khaliizitaur, Garethkulggen, but the ilharess, U'nef Chaon, resides not in Khaliizitaur but in a Chaon owned district of Edonilche'el. The ustdalharil, Vidiima, is instead valsharess of Khaliizitaur and oversees much of the house's operations in Garethkulggen and abroad.
Besides the titular family, another important family in Great House Chaon are the To'ryll who have ownership over several near-surface colonies, surface-access caves, and traders specializing in goods from the World Above.
Great House Chaon is on reasonably good terms with most of the Drow houses due to the universal nature of their services and general seeming disinterest in politics or power struggles beyond the accumulation of wealth. They are, however, especially close with Great House Faernsenger and Great House Maelthra.

Also, for Drow guys, just because Neit's accent is fantabulous;

Yathrinser is a city in Avernus not all that far from where they met up with Neit's daughter. The ruling house there is a smaller, rather unknown one called "Mirrym", which a local Faernsenger Illharess is already trying to take down. Neit wants to move in and deal the killing blow, in return for a bunch of cash. There are also loads of non-Drow towns and cities in the area we can totally exploit, steal from, and maybe even take control of.
