Generic sorta implies it's a common setting/story.
God, another show I only saw bits and pieces of when I was younger.
You missed out on everything, didn't you?

Most animes have different settings and stories. Does that mean nothing is generic. Cuz I mean I can't name two anime with the same setting and same story.
All this talk caused me to watch at least six episodes of Big-O in no particular order. I miss the good days.
Any style that falls under an umbrella term could be considered "generic". GITS could very well be considered generic because it's semi-realistic, which is a style pursued by many artists. So the whole idea of "generic" is kind of BS in the sense that if you can classify something, it's inevitably generic.
