We can't really accurately add TPSs in because they tend to be a bit more...character-oriented.

^--Well, they are still a shooter. I meant all shooter games, regardless of whether or not they are character oriented. And besides, if we wanted to talk about the characters, then I would have had the title of the thread be: What's your take on shooter game characters? Of course, it is not this so...but you do bring up a valid point on that though.

A lot of FPS games have begun to include elements of a TPS in their games, and the reverse for TPS games starting to include FPS elements.
For example, pick up a support weapon in Halo3/Reach, it switches to third-person.
Like more accuracy for that sexy chrome hammerburst in GoW3? Go to first-person.
Trying to increase your awareness in that Battlefield jet? Switch to third-person.

I'd like to see more of the fps/tps mixing going on in more games.

First person shooters are all cliched and boring. Even though Battlefield was an exception.

The reason behind all FPS's being cliched and boring: Same enemies, Same weapons, and shit like that. It may just have a different skin and effect, but still the same all together. Borderlands(Liked the idea of RPS(roleplaying shooter))for example, had the same enemies, mostly human, slightly varied beasts but still got boring with those. The weapons, well yeah there's a shit load, but the only difference I saw was the rarity and a few attributes to the gun. That's it.
