Do I get the Intuos 4 or the Bamboo Create?

To be honest, the Intuos4 has the quick-buttons and the quick adjust brush size, so I would really go with it.

Yep, get the Intuos4. Although the small I4 lacks some features the medium and large ones have; mainly the LED displays telling you what the quickbuttons do, and, well...size.

I can't get the Medium, I'll just get nothing else for Christmas. xD

I ... Made a typo. I can get the Medium, I just wont get anything else for Christmas... I'll also probably have to pitch in some of my own money as well. xD
*cough* Do you find the Small to have adequate space?

It's a personal preference, sometimes bigger isn't better, you know. I got the small because my room is cluttered as fk, and I don't have much...eh, breathing room. So basically, smaller=more space, small drawing space. Bigger=less space, bigger drawing space.
But the small has a nice drawing area, so does the Bamboo Pen.
You don't really notice it once you map the active area to the screen size.

I have a small as well. The only real issue that I have with it is that it's very hard to draw straight lines free hand because it's too small a surface to really use your entire arm. It is also is difficult to do extremely fine detail work while zoomed out. Given the choice, I probably would have gotten a Medium over the Small, but I still love my Small Intuos4. It's especially nice since I can bring it along with my laptop almost anywhere.

If you really want a straight line, there's a line tool for that. I mean, the same principle applies in traditional art. No matter how big/small the surface you're working on is, you'll never get a straight line without a ruler, right?
