What with the long ass swords and the wide arch of the swings? Anyway, it look like fun.

The weapon animations are more about game balance then realism but you should get it anyway

If you're just spectating, the swings look really slow. But if you're swinging and being swung at, it feels fast enough.

The fact the whole game isn't just knights on horseback slaughtering hordes of poorly armed and trained peasants should be all the info you need to know about how realistic it is.
