Toning Thread
Welcome to the toning thread,
I'd just like to ask you what would you prefer in using color black?
would you just make an ink just like this one.

Or tone just like this one

I'm having trouble in choosing a type of style for toning style to choose, I already made up my mind somehow but I'd like to know your opinion incase I choose something different

i don't know much about toning....but i do like the one at the top better. A lot of times in manga you see people use the bottom one during important parts...or just randomly...

Well since you're going digital the bottom one would make the best use of your medium.

Do everything dark glam, kinda noir. It's the best option.

Go with the look that you want to achieve in your manga. Bleach, for example, has no tones at all while some go all out and tone everything. Just be aware that whatever choice you make, you will have to dedicate time to do it and do it consistently.
Anyways, the first is traditional toning and the second, whenever I see something like that, I think to myself, "This was originally in color, too bad it's in black and white now. :< ".

Yeah, But it still looks really cool! I just noticed that tones are really ugly. Well they are on my eyes.
Those two examples above doesn't have ugly types of tones.
But why do we have to tone manga in the first place? Why can't it be just gray?
Whenever I see dots and other things on clothes of person, I always think "what's the point"
Can someone explain this to me. OTL

We don't really have enough ink to saturate a page with grey everywhere now do we
