On a less jokey note - I was standing on a platform being insecure about my appearance and wondering why everyone was looking at me (they weren't, but I always think everyone is looking at me. good with making friends and being charismatic, bad when alone with strangers), when all of a sudden a train went hurtling past. The power and speed of it made me imagine the train running through the countryside, and symbolised freedom and independence from tradition, the timetable I'm forced to adhere to for school, etc. I really brightened up, especially as it reminded me of two fantastic songs by the Kinks, one of which (Shangri-la) reminds me of where I don't want to be, and one of which (I'm Not Like Everybody Else) reminds me of why I don't want to just get a finance degree and get some stupid house, car, and trophy wife. And I love the understated build-up in I'm Not Like Everybody Else.
