Kai stirred and stuck an arm out to the side, expecting to meet with warm skin. When instead he met only cooling sheets he opened his eyes blearily, noted Shari had already left, and allowed himself to subside back into sleep.
He woke again at the sound of her re entering the room, and pushed himself up onto his elbows. "Hmm," he mumbled sleepily as she kissed his forehead. "Where'd you go?"
He pulled himself out of the bed completely with a sigh and began dressing himself, scooping clothes up from where he'd discarded them the previous night. "It's later than I thought," he yawned "I guess we should go watch the tournament..."
Gods he didn't want to leave this room. He knew as soon as he did he'd be forced to face everything she'd confessed last night. Even acknowledging that was enough to make him wince inside. Gods Kai, you're an idiot.
