So... Apparently Dorohedoro is still going because the author keeps changing her mind about ending it.

    I'm good with this.

There are a distinct lack of other comic books about lizard-headed ninja luggs who befreind cornish pasty wizard-demons.

    SPOILER! :
Also, it's effectively a martial arts comedy set in hell and is thus fantastic.

I keep meaning to read that. The art reminds me of Shirow, back before his porn phase.

I take it the story is an ongoing thing? Someone actually gave me a volume of it a while back, but I haven't read it as it wasn't the first one.

Yeah, the story is pretty much one big arc. I doubt it's very easy to spoil through, seeing as I could say "Ebisu is a skull-faced snake unless she eats black powder" and you'd have no idea what I was onning 'bout. They have only released up to issue 11 of 20+ish in england anyway.

Art wise... I guess its kinda like Shirow if he was obsessed with b-movies and hypergore? There isn't much else out there like it.

Not unless you count skeleton jelly.

Oh, it's a bit after the fact, but I finished the main Bubblegum Crisis series, by the way. Ages ago. Meant to do a video on it, but work and youtube problems have conspired against me. I think 7 and 8 were probably my favourites of the bunch - given that I hear a lot of accusations of 'proto-moe' involving Nene, I enjoyed Scoop Chase far more than I was expecting to. It's a real shame that it was the last of the original run, as I felt like they'd finally perfected the formula, just for it to end when it was getting good.

Bueno. And I agree. It's really one of those shows where the fanbase goes "What do you mean it's not awesome?" and cites the more dumb-fighty-fanservice-y episodes as the good ones. But it's the offbeat and strangely optomistic ones that feel sort of new-age and progressive in the way that I don't think you could physically market a show as even if you tried. Like Patlabor. Or, hell, Star Trek Next Gen.

Finally decided to cough up and order the BGC Blu-Rays today. I promised myself that I wouldn't, unless AnimeEigo were going to include something I didn't already have, but it is shaping up to be a good set and it felt like I'd just regret it if I didn't buy one.

Unfortunately, it looks like they've ruled out including Crash and the AD Police Files series, but there's still some voting going on over the final extras. Amusingly, Adam Warren's Grand Mal comic is on the cards...

As if the series wasn't rare and confusingly unfinished enough in the 90s, lol. Suprisingly, I actually haven't seen much of AD police in a long time, since the english dub seemed pretty dire and I couldn't find the Japanese. Probally uber cheap on DVD now through.

Adam Warren... wasn't he the guy that did all the western Dirty Pair stuff? I have no idea if that's even a good thing or a bad thing.

Yeah, AD Police can be had for pennies on amazon now. It's a bit too willfully grimdark for my liking, but it has its moments and the music is still nice.

Warren was the guy behind the US Dirty Pair comics as well, yeah. Wasn't that impressed with the direction he took them in back at the time, but I only ever read one chapter. My memories of Grand Mal are equally hazy, but I think it was truer to the source material though. I quite like his art as well:
