So hey you should learn anatomy before you stylize the shit out of anything first. The first sketches proportions are pretty whack

Josh: Okay. I will try harder.

    ------

    So I started trying silhouettes.

I wouldn't mind links to tutorials on setting up brushes for painting and all that jazz.

Kinda harsh, man. I didn't think it was half as bad as you make it seem.

Also, I recognized the first two characters (so A+ for you), but who are the other two?

The bottom one is a neat idea, from what I see. Don't forget to develop your midtones; you've already got the shadows and highlights. As for brushes, are you interested in hard cel-shading or soft shading?

Those head sketches look pretty awesome Jai, I love the style, particularly for Kronk :3 and the shillouette is looking good, maybe GunZ tutorials on 'Silhouette Concepting' in Drawing, Animation and Tutorials will be of use to you

Here is a process I found on dA; http://browse.deviantart.com/?q=silh...orial#/d4f50zf
    an other; http://browse.deviantart.com/?q=silh...orial#/d37phuh

Not sure if they will be any help, hopefully they will

Seefy: Well, I'm glad people recognized them. The other two were just doodles. Also, I want more of a mixture between the two, but I dunno. It just doesn't seem to work with me. Digital painting just doesn't want to click.

Demon: Thanks man. I've been looking at GunZ's tutorials and I'm trying to figure out how i want to go with this.

What program are you using to paint in? My favorite program to paint in is Photoshop, but I imagine GIMP is somewhat similar. As far as brushes go, you really only need 3 brushes to paint - a soft and hard round brush and maybe the chalk brush for a little more texture. I personally just use the chalk brush for everything and have opacity controlled by pressure. Some people don't like the opacity to change with pressure though...

Edit: I just looked at the tutorials that Demonfyre posted. The second one is a pretty close to how I do my painting.
