One thing you have to keep in mind when drawing like this. Is be messy, let your mind flow naturally. If you think about the technical stuff too much it just won't turn out right unless you're already a pro.
And yes, just keep on practicing, that's the biggest key to unlocking hidden potential. Everyone should practice, no matter how good you are. Thanks, and keep at it :]

Is there a reason why no reflected light was discussed?
Yep. This was just meant to be very basic, but enough detail to give an idea of what to do. I assume most people who looks at this are already artists or want to get better...or maybe just starting. And knowing that, I also assume you experiment on your own. Basically saying "I figured this out on my own, why can't you?" lol.
But if anyone wants, I could add that also.
