Heya, this is my first post here - I just registered. I have been following this site for quite sometime, although not actively until recently. I always wanted to be able to do some nice fantasy drawing (particularly medieval themed), so I did some practice lately and came up with some sketches. The first one is a suit of armor I made three days ago, and the second one is a Mage concept. Both are in greyscale (as I don't know how to color them without potentially ruining them, so I'm aiming to learn computer coloring - preferably with Mac software). I also added a photo (I couldn't scan it, since it's A1 and my scanner goes up to A3) of some old artwork kind of thing I made.
Suit of armor:
As you probably expect, I am looking for some feedback for the two sketches, what did I do right, what do I need to improve?
Two more pictures added, a quick attempt at a TF2 Pyro (not really a serious attempt at drawing him) and a cute little cat.
okay I think you've got a LOT of awesome talent, but your work seems a bit stiff. The mage has some pretty decent anatomy but his shoulders seem a bit too angled. They should probably be a little bit more sloped. And the neck is a little to long and thin, but otherwise that's pretty cool. And I love that drawing of that eye thing, that's pretty freakin' awesome.
First of all, thanks for your comment! You're right about these being pretty stiff, I might do some casual hugging chibi's to shake that up a bit later on. :3 The mage's neck may be an issue too, be it's very easy to change. As for the shoulders, in what way are they wrong? (Not meaning to be rude, but I'm just anxious, so I can improve.) The eye thing is something I made a year or two back for school. The series of signs on the upper part were all words that had to do with - if I recall correctly: Injustice, War, Revolution, Piece and Justice (in an order somewhat similar to that). The left and right side mean life and death (in that order). Inside the main purple sphere: The Equality of Things. With the arrow/question mark shaped signs representing the cycle of time (in seasons, first two months are winter (white), next three are spring (green), next three are summer (red), next three are autumn (grey) and the last one (December) is winter again (blue)). I don't recall what the rest was, though.
Small update, added two drawings. See the first post.
