My most favourite racing games are NFS World and Xpand Rally Xtreme. I also love NFS ProStreet. I don't like Mario Kart because it's a kiddy toy, but my 9 years old friend from Japan loves Mario Bros and Mario Kart.

NFS Hot Pursuit 2010 is my favourite, though I hate the normal traffic AI. "OH MAI GAWD A RACER!! I MUST STOP MOVING!!" right in the middle of the highway, the result can be rather messy.
