Megaera was not particularly behind the idea of killing, but if it were truly necessary she would not be above doing what must be done.
"I agree with Yu. A large payoff could be the only half-justifying ends, in my opinion."

Megaera was not particularly behind the idea of killing, but if it were truly necessary she would not be above doing what must be done.
"I agree with Yu. A large payoff could be the only half-justifying ends, in my opinion."
So in the end, it was decided to turn the pirate boss over to Magistrate Zheng. Let him handle it.
Megaera kept an eye on him, although without his spell components his ability to do much of anything beyond glare angrily at people and check out Meg's rear was pretty limited.

They left Zheng with some of the Magistrate's guards, to await whatever fate the system had in mind for him. Before meeting with Zheng for praise and possibly rewards, of course, the group had another decision to make: did they want Zheng to send them back to Yao now, or did they want to go poking around the forest and find out what the crap was up with the ghosts and why the Ancestors were acting up like that.
All the men, and on some level even Meg, Myfanwy, and Yu, did find the prospect of spending more time around the intensely alluring Alchemist to be quite an appealing prospect.
Megaera personally held reservations about returning to Yao so soon.
"The living take priority over the dead. After all, there are more skeletons in existence than living people." Akaiji stated flatly, as if that wasn't supposed to be a disturbing little fact at all. "However, there must be a reason for the forest to be corrupted so. Such unknown corruptions tend to spread. Reason suggests, such unknown corruptions spread because they have been spread."
His eyestalks waggled a bit whilst he had a deep thought session.
"I would find it dutiful to remain in Xiao Bu, and deal with this task before it becomes out of hand. However, I also find it dutiful that we should find weapons suit for re-murdering the right-honoured dead before we are to re-murder the right honoured dead. To not perform as such would be... most... silly. Very silly."
You were beginning to think that the crabthing would be invincible in a bluffing game. His facial bits sure did move alot, but none of it resembled any emotions you'd heard of.
Ganzorig seemed to be having a really nice daydream. "Oh man... We've gotta go check out those ghosts or whatever."
"I can probably punch a ghost"
"Is there a chance we will earn some extra coin for this work?"
If there wasn't any money to be made or loot to be gained, Yu really didn't want to go out of her way to do this. Too bad most of the others wanted to get in on some action.
Myfanwy was game for ghost hunting. The pirate fight hadn't satiated her need for action, and the ghosts were closest to them. "Let's kill some ghosts." She wasn't one to mince words.
And so our intrepid group of drunks, foreigners, crab-monsters, and martial-artists informed the magistrate they would be taking care of the town's ghost problem, and putting the ancestors back to rest.
They then retired for the night.

The next morning the group met up again at the tea house. Naturally, Meg's rear and Akaii's... everything, got lots of looks. And speaking of looks, were they going to take the Alchemist with them? The pretty one. The one with the giant dumplings. Hui Yihuo or whatever her name was.
Wanting to start the day off right, Myfanwy ordered an ale. She proceeded to rejoin her comrades at their table, asking " the ghosts are in the woods, right? How do we fight ghosts?" She didn't have much experience with specters, and wasn't very bright about the undead anyhow.
