It would be interesting for people to go with unnatural ocular styles in 3D. If this team is trying to make 3D realistic, you could probably make some really cool and creepy effects by going in the opposite direction.

I have to agree with you, I was never a fan of 3D movies. I felt the added nothing to the film and only made the picture a little bit fuzzy. But knowing Peter Jackson and his film crew, they're always coming up with innovative ideas to make the movie better (such as the 48fps, 5k resolution, etc that you mentioned) so I'm actually looking forward to see what this will end up looking like.

Snow White would have been better if Smaug tore their shit up. Smaug kicks ass.
In fact, I really liked Smaug. Let's face it, the dwarves were a bunch of greedy asses, so why was it okay for them to be jerks, but not the dragon?
