Man I haven't come here in a while...

Anyway, confess about any strange likings for music you might have here. What I mean is, say, you tend to like music in a language you don't understand. You may like French songs, German songs, Spanish songs or songs in a language in which you don't understand a word.

Personally, I listen to a lot of Japanese Anime music. I'd love to learn Japanese, but here in India you're pretty much forced to learn a handful of languages, so, I've got my hands full.

Either way, post on!

Yeah I don't listen to a lot of English music because I can understand it, and can possibly disagree with it. In Japanese, idk what the hell I'm singing but it sounds cool.

I like whatever sounds cool, but I do listen to a lot of Japanese metal like Sigh and Maximum The Hormone, and Korean hip-hop and shit like Taeyang and etc. (mostly due to Linz), and German music like Unheilig and Rammstein. Although a lot of other foreign bands I listen to sing in english though like Graveworm [Italian symphonic black metal band].

Vitas - opera number 2 and il dolce suerno (I think the last ones right)
I usually do look up translated versions of songs just because I want to know what they are talking about. With my luck I could be blasting something like "yay rape!" in a song I think sounds awesome.

I like to listen to a lot of Japanese music. I'm p. much addicted to Vocaloid, and there are a lot of other J-Pop and J-Rock bands that I like. It's also cool because if you watch the lyric videos you learn some words and their pronunciations.

I love the Spanish songs that Thievery Corporation put out on their album, The Richest Man in Babylon.

I like Korean hiphop/pop, like Gunz said. Taeyang is alright, along with Big Bang and G Dragon. I personally like Clazziquai (especially Alex) and B2ST.

I don't really like Japanese pop. XD My host sister in Japan looooved it. The only material I could really get into that she liked was a little bit of Nishino Kana. Japanese jazz and hip hop are great, though. I like M-Flo, The Seatbelts, and the pianist Hiromi. Double, Emyli, and Utada Hikaru are some old favorites.  Orange Range and Takahashi Hitomi are good, too.

My favorite French band is probably Phoenix, but they sing in  English, haha. Non-English, my favorite is MC Solaar, a rapper. I also like the rap group Noyau Dur.

From Israel I like Idan Raichel a lot. I also like Avishai Cohen, a jazz composer.

I'm not very exposed to Russian music, but I like Origa.

I also like a lot of various European bands that sing in English--Miike Snow, Kate Havnevik, and Robyn are just a few that I like.

... Has anyone heard of Kaizers Orchestra?

I like one song from Kana, and that's IF.
Oh also, Apocalyptica.

I speak a little spanish so I enjoy spanish pop and latin music. The rhythm and beats are so fresh I can't help but dance in my seat, and the language is very fun to sing.

I guess the thing about most songs we don't understand is that we can enjoy the tone, rhythm, instrumental sounds, and all other musical pleasantries without having to worry about what the song actually means. We just listen to the music, not what is said in it.

I'm foreigner so most music is foreign to me.
Being foreign is relative to where you're from and where you stay. Either way, to most of the world you're foreign.

^wut?!

Anyway, I'm from India too, there are loads of languages here, some that I do understand and some that I don't. I generally listen to any song from any language as long as its good. Mostly Japanese (from anime soundtracks). Most other languages I listen to them when I stumble or when someone else asks me to coz its good.

Heck, seriously? Which city do you live in? I live in Bangalore.

On topic, I really like songs from Eufonius, UVERworld, etc. I listen to mostly slow songs.

I really don't understand many Indian languages though. Heck, I don't think there's an Indian language I know fully. Being forced to learn languages against your will sucks.

I never thought there would be anyone else in India who liked Anime and Manga. Fortunately I was wrong.

Another reason I listen to anime music is because I find it easier to like and to search for. Look up a best anime songs list vid on youtube, see which ones I like, go to Gendou and download them. I don't tend to like English songs that way.

There is not much popular music in my native language so I'm used to listening to english songs. Most of them however are from artists that speak english as a second language. I agree that someone could like a song without understanding the lyrics but I think it's much better if you actually understand what they sing - atleast with most songs.

This isn't foreign in the least, but it's pretty close as I don't understand a word yet it's so soothing.

K-pop has been getting pretty popular since last year or so. Though I haven't gotten into it nearly as much as other people I know, it's pretty catchy to listen to. On a side note, the members of the female groups I've seen are GORGEOUS. :D

it's so soothing.

Out of curiosity, what do you usually listen to?

Alternative rock, punk rock, and very occasionally metal.

My favourite bands: Rise Against, Green Day (Especially the old songs), Sum 41, and Blink 182.

You usually continue listening to the music you were when you were a kid. There is a whole lot of different music out there, but you just can't seem to enjoy it as much as what you are used to.

For example: Arabic music. It isn't that it's bad music, it's just that I dont get what they are trying to do with it. I don't mean the lyrics, I understand arabic. It's mostly about my preference, and I prefer energetic music.

Total rubbish. I love finding new bands and styles, especially when they're markedly different to what I've heard before. In consequence, in the course of a typical day I'll listen to death metal, indie rock, psychedelic trance, opera, big band jazz, latin, hip-hop, and new wave music. Or any other similarly bizarre combination of musical styles. Take for example the contrast between these (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JZEue5dO9LI) three (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6UasOXqWKFQ) songs (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C2wJS3zRx1I).

Restricting yourself to just music you've heard before is a bit dull, in my opinion. Why bother if you can't make it an adventure?

Alcest is a French metal band. This is one of my favorite songs of all time. It inspired to me to pick up guitar. (First song I learned on it.)

I really love Japanese music. I can understand some of the words since I am learning the language.

The only Korean music I listen to is Girls' Generation.

I also like Filipino music (also known as OPM). Though sadly, there doesn't exist much of it, but there are a few good songs that do exist!

And I've heard some really pretty Chinese music.

Yup, basically I am a huge fan of Asian music! XD!!
