The story is about a young boy who is cursed to never be able to touch anything gold, or be exposed indirectly to them for long periods of time. This is a curse set upon his bloodline for an act of greed committed by his great ancestor. For this reason he and his family have lived in near darkness, underground, for generations. He can't be outside during the day for more than two hours (because of the "golden" sun), which are spent at school (sometimes) learning stuff, but not quite enough to make him smart. He can't drink lemonade, eat mangoes, potato chips, etc. So the manga will be about his everyday life, and his quest to rid his family of the curse, which entails a lot of digging and tomb raiding and interesting adventure-y stuff.

It's a very cool concept! The main character's very cute :) I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if this is a serious project, you're aware that there's a pretty well known graphic novel called "fool's gold" already?

=[ not yet. But the whole thing about the name already being used was strangely discouraging

You need to get more motivated and think up a better name. Play around with the words~

I can see why you were bugged about the name not being original (since something like this rather suits having a super apt title), but I still think you should continue this. Sounded pretty original and nifty to me. Sometimes you just gotta be gung-ho about things and change plans as it moves along. :o
