View Full Version : Jaidurn's art - Taking Requests!
12-01-2010, 07:28 PM
Old member here. Here's my walk through time.
When I started (August 2009 - December 2009):
My first anatomy practice.
it's taking to long for me to improve. ;A;
First digital work
yeah. I got a tablet. And sucked.
I feel like I improved a little.
More Recent (This summer. 2010)
Not really improving.
I improved. :0
Entirely Recent (October - Today 2010)
So I tried a background
Josh's Professor Bentley. I had fun drawing this.
New (Fucking. First view p. much.):
Do you mostly draw digitally now jaidurn? Or do you still pick up the pencil and paper and draw?
12-01-2010, 07:53 PM
I really like those kamina drawings...
12-01-2010, 07:56 PM
I love that samus. C:

Rio: I do still draw with pencil and paper. I prefer it for the most part. :3 I just don't have a good scanner anymore.
Josh: So do I.
Oz: I wish I could say the same.
12-01-2010, 08:06 PM
Why don't you like it? I think it's awesome. If you colour it I'll love you forever. Maybe. XD
12-01-2010, 08:08 PM
I'm actually thinking of redoing a Samus picture. But this time, Zero suit samus.
Oooh, Zero Suit Samus! I think that's her best suit yet.
12-01-2010, 08:20 PM
Zero suit samus in SSBB was awesome. I didn't think she was the best character but I always picked her anyways. lol
12-01-2010, 08:28 PM
Oz: Yeah man. I owned with Samus. She is one of the best characters, imo
12-12-2010, 12:21 PM
youve improved alot :)

Oz's request from the old forum:
Kodos' Request WIP. Would love crits.
01-05-2011, 11:50 PM
So I did some anatomy practice.
01-07-2011, 12:12 PM
im sorry i cant comment properly cause i kept laughing at the face :L
anyway id suggest you try a different method of approach when doing the anatomy
look at a muscle dude i guess and make basic shapes of the body parts to keep a solid form
Your understanding of the male body is quite good, and I'm liking Kodos's request already. Maybe, though, you could broaden your male characters' shoulders. Just a suggestion. They look just a little off as they are.

Axion: Thanks man. I've been changing my style so your advice helped.
Matt: Is this better?
So here is a WIP of mine. I will be finishing it and coloring it.

I really like how the last picture is looking so far. I definitely find it much easier to work with large masses and then just refine it over the course of a few sketches. I think for this person I'd take a bit of the hump off his neck because at that angle you most likely would not see his neck at all.
I also like how Kodos' WIP is coming along. I can't really see the picture too well to really give any feedback but it looks decent. You've definitely improved since I posted here a few months ago.

Hey man. Generally I think your anatomy is quite good; It's just the scaling that's a bit off at times. Making the arms bigger and the chest smaller in that kamina image definately would have solved alot of the problems. Might help if you start imagining the lower abdomen as a seperate "object" to the chest.
Also, Kodos' request? The bodies are damn nice. The only critiques I can really give is that their shoulders are much too broad, and that Hevisa's face looks like it needs rotating to the left a couple of degress, and probally a pointier chin. :o
Either way, keep up the good work, man. :u

Nisaren: Thanks man. I tried fixing it in this version. Did I do it ok?
Reg: Thanks man. :U I have been trying to see the lower abdomen as a seperate shape.
Work so far:

Yeah, I think that looks a bit better. The only thing now with the colored version is the hair looks like it's melding with the chest tatoos. Keep going though, it's looking good. :)
02-09-2011, 10:02 AM
Nisaren: Yeah, I noticed that. I made a slight change this time. Thanks!

O-oy, Jai, you know that preparation sketch you made of Kamina? That one has potential - real potential. Anyways make sure to curve your katana 'cause that one was straight. Love the way you're starting to tie forms together when preparing your drawing; that's the most important thing to improve.
Edit: Also , for perspective's sake I'd make the belt-thingy on the left a lot smaller... the pose apparently shows his torso turning towards you, which means that to start with his hips should be twisted away from you. Also, asymmetry=maximum appeal... :X

I can't really tell what anything is. but I like the texture method you used.
02-11-2011, 03:43 AM
YAY! ICE CREAM SPRINKLES!!!
02-25-2011, 12:34 AM
Hama: If I ever do a drawing like this again, I'll take note of that.
Gunz: You should try it man.
YEAH MAN. THEY ARE TASTY
Doodling on GB

Sketch I won't finish:
03-01-2011, 11:46 AM
interresting technique and works :D
03-01-2011, 01:27 PM
You should make some over-exaggeratedly dramataesensational pictures. Focus on super-dynamics.
03-03-2011, 08:25 PM
Stop drawing the same pose over and over!
Like the textured kamina at the top of the page, and in Goku, and in the GB sketches.
I went through that cycle before and I'm still suffering from it D:
03-03-2011, 11:55 PM
Josh, most of this was working with legs and the lower part of the body. D: Sorry if the torsos are repetative, but I'm just doing what I know until I can learn the bottom parts.

Gedeon: Lol I haven't seen KHR
