jubeh

Like 15 minutes ago

Hayashida
09-15-2011, 09:56 PM
cool dude. Btw are you ever gonna record something over that electric rhino song or are we not using that anymore

jubeh
09-15-2011, 09:57 PM
I will. All the recordings I've done lately are on a headset I turned sideways. Once I can properly record things I'll do it.

Hayashida
09-15-2011, 09:58 PM
okay cool. I'm gonna work on writing some new stuff. I don't want to work on that one thing I came up with a little while ago because after I was working on it and the power went out I got too frustrated with it and I dont want to even look at it again

jubeh

Huh that is actually p neat. I don't like the tone of the (sorta) clean guitar tho. Can you put in more moments where the music just gets really loud, like the drums and stuff. Like where its all soft, after that it should just get really loud.

Also did you see this

I need a song to cheer up a friend who is depressed. Any suggestions?

digitek
09-17-2011, 07:02 PM
That depends what they're depressed about, what kind of music they are into, whether they need something motivational, deep, emo, upbeat, or just plain fun. And seeing as I have no idea, I'm gonna go with something pretty cheesy - but I still like it :P

So how do you guys feel about DJs? Not like artists who go by "DJ" or people who use samples, but people who get paid to go parties and just play music they didn't make. You know, like the types at cheap high school dances. They make like hundreds of a dollars a night, I believe.

Hayashida
09-18-2011, 09:48 PM
It's pretty dumb imo. The only point of them is to create a flow of one song to another so it's not "jarring" for the listeners but that's not even hard to do.

jubeh
09-18-2011, 10:45 PM
I have a pretty who cares opinion about that. I've psuedo-dj'd at parties with a laptop and its annoying as shit. Dudes requesting songs in the middle of songs, and its like the same dude. Play this song no no this one, and then halfway through hey change it to this song. P thankless job that requires the ability to put your own taste aside and read a crowd.

CypressDahlia
09-18-2011, 11:17 PM
Yeah but I mean you're paid to do that. And paid well. So in the end, isn't it more than worth it? Besides, playing whatever's on the billboard 100 will probably fly.

jubeh
09-18-2011, 11:18 PM
I guess

CypressDahlia
09-18-2011, 11:20 PM
I unno I just never liked the idea of someone getting paid for that. It's like an issue of a producer getting paid more than their artist.

jubeh

I'm getting to a reasonable level of technical proficiency, but every time I pick up my guitar I always end up playing the same scales and arpeggios the same way and it's really making me feel dull. Does anyone have any tips for writing lead parts and such?

ClockHand
10-03-2011, 01:59 PM
Have you tried playing some songs, to know what kind of chords they use and how they use them? also you can see different kind of scales.

Kenzieroo
10-06-2011, 09:55 PM
Ok I play the Alto Saxaphone, and I'm getting really mad. I've been looking for sheet music, exp. Firefly. No I don't mind paying for the full thing, but the only GOOD website I can find you can only pay for the music in Euros... I kinda don't have that, it also let me pay in CHR, CHR? I don't know what it is.... I doubt I have that, if I don't even know what it is?

Can anyone help?

ClockHand
10-06-2011, 09:58 PM
I can't help you. A friend use to play saxaphone, but he got the sheets from people who are musicians and I haven't seen any website with sexaphone sheets.

Maybe try searching piano sheets and translate them (or fix them to be played in saxaphone)?

ram
10-06-2011, 09:59 PM
I only play anime songs in my keyboard, my source would be http://ichigos.com/sheets
well i guess that's what you expect from an otaku like me. >_>

what do you want to play anyway?

edit:
I don't know how saxophones work, but music sheets are almost all the same to me, no matter what intrument

Hayashida
10-06-2011, 09:59 PM

Hayashida

Okay.
There's some modern stuff mixed in with the stuff on this site, so take a look through the pages here.
http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/instruments/Woodwinds-Alto-Saxophone/81?sort=top_selling

edit: Also, you should probably learn how to play the sax part in Baker Street. Just google Baker Street Saxophone sheet music and you'll find something for sure.

I have a band and we have a gig last night with fellow bands from University of the Philippines Mindanao ( where I study). The band was 5 years now since it started since I enter the university. Still, I need practice and proper schooling on guitars, btw Im the guitarist of the band.

These are the songs we covers:

Waking-up in Vegas by Katy Perry
Accidentally Inlove - Counting Crows
Sunday Morning - No doubt

Hayashida
10-15-2011, 12:05 AM
you should cover the corrupt bargains sometime. Also do you have any recordings?

Sylux
10-15-2011, 05:46 PM
If the Corrupt Bargains make a heavy metal punk rock hybrid song my band will cover it or if they do a remix of Wonderwall by Oasis

Hayashida
10-17-2011, 08:27 PM
Oh yeah I wasn't sure what he was asking there. Uh yeah I record them in my basement. I use garageband to record and mix stuff and sometimes I use Audacity to do some finishing touches.

Sylux
10-17-2011, 08:58 PM
Audacity has a simpler feel, eh? I console USB my recordings in FL Studio 10 and use Audacity to cut the tracks up to tempo and piece them together in FL Studio 10 again then back to Audacity to wrap it all up

new song. btw its supposed to have that shitty quality sound to it.

@ Sulu: Uh well I just use Audacity to up the gain on stuff since when I export stuff from GB, it automatically lowers the levels to get rid of clipping, so it gets quiet.

MiguelAndrew
10-18-2011, 12:03 AM
oh, sorry for my bad english, Im not good at it.

Thanks Hayashida and Sylux. Im just using Cepro to record my original and cover songs in my computer.

Im still looking for my own electric guitar and some gadgets because I just have an acoustic guitar and everytime I have a gig, I just barrow someone guitar and gadget and sometimes( I think always) Im not comfortable with it.

Can you post the lyrics?

jubeh
10-18-2011, 05:42 PM
If you write a song called save me
I already hate you
If you write about going crazy
Then please go die
If you write how your
parents dont understand you
Put down your guitar
And go get a knife

Im supposed to find some clever way
To get my point across
But frankly music's too abusable
And you're too fucking dumb
So let's be honest here
and act like we're adults
Please go fucking kill yourself
Your shit's weak and you suck

If you bring your guitar to parties
Go choke on a goats dick
If you whine about too much money
Go drown in some piss
If you complain
About people pirating your music
Put down your guitar
And go find some bullets

Hayashida
10-18-2011, 05:44 PM

i cant actually play most of those except the ones it calls easy and even then some of them are stupidly hard

Hayashida

idk how that program works. I've never even heard of it until now actually.

jubeh
10-22-2011, 12:05 AM
Basically what happens is you drag samples or create midi tracks. After that it crashes, and then you reload and continue doing that. Just repeat that process. The program mixes it up by crashing due to different errors each time.

Hayashida
10-22-2011, 12:07 AM
I just read that it supports VST instruments, so you should check out http://www.tweakbench.com/ because they have a lot of good free VST instruments there. I think there's a mellotron one on there called tapeworm which is supposed to be decent.

Edit: actually wait idunno if you can use them without a midi keyboard or something

T and I moved into a practice space this Sunday... looks a bit like this:

http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj114/nylarathotep/securedownload.jpg

We vacuumed a bit but it still looks pretty much the same, aka, ghetto as hell. It's pretty cheap, though, and in a good location so hey. Looking for a cheap way to prevent the sound from reverberating so much though - probably some sort of foam?

jubeh
11-23-2011, 01:10 AM
Um at school we used these carpeted panels. I think they had foam under the carpet because I would bounce off of the walls all the time.

Nyarlathotep

Yeah, those would be nice... pretty pricey though. Considering just buying a bunch of Auralex foam, but it's not cheap either.

Yeah thats badass dude.

Since Idk how to make my games work on a mac I cant show you what I'm working on but I'll say its a game where you punch the shit out of dudes and I need 6 character themes. Like I dont expect each one to be amazing but they should be high energy tracks with little to no intro.

Right now I'm using your werewolf asso song as the title screen and it works really well.

Hayashida
12-05-2011, 02:14 AM
I can always use my windows thingy if you want to show me anything. And I'll see what I can do about those tracks. How long does each one need to be approx?

jubeh
12-05-2011, 02:17 AM
They dont have to be long at all since the matches are super fast. Like 2 minutes should be fine. I actually found some more tracks I can use since I didnt know your soundcloud had a second page. Redux! works and Lenin might work as a character select track. Knife fight could work as well.

Hayashida
12-05-2011, 02:19 AM
okay cool. Also if you show me the design for the characters or something it might help me get some ideas for some music for them

jubeh

John if you're having trouble with writing stuff listen to all the character themes in street fighter. Notice how the main melody functions in place of vocals and its all usually hummable.

12-14-2011, 09:28 PM

I need new headphones. You musician types have any recommendations?

Sylux
12-17-2011, 12:28 PM
Don't look into any skull candy or in-ears. Seriously, if you buy in-ears for more than 10 cents you're retarded. Go for Sony or Bose around-ear. I use the Sony Bassboosts and they feel really nice after you get used to them, and they give out a good sound. If you're looking to really drop bills, I suggest some big ones that literally wrap around your ear like the AE2 phones. So basically, buy turtle shells and not acorns.

Bacon_Barbarian
12-17-2011, 12:35 PM
I do not have the money for Bose. Though, I think my mom actually has some Bose that she doesn't use ... I'm willing to spend, like, $80 max. Should have probably said that

Sylux
12-17-2011, 12:46 PM
Go for Sony.

Oooooh. Those look nice.

Do they leak though?

Sylux
12-17-2011, 12:52 PM
Actually, not that much. If you're on a bus you can blast it full and nobody will really be able to hear it. But if you're in a waiting room then keep it down a bit. But the padding works nicely to trap in all the goodies.

Hayashida
12-17-2011, 03:37 PM
Bose are way over priced for what they are. Sony's are decent. If you're just looking for something to use on the computer, Sony's PS3 over-ear headsets actually have amazing quality for the price. If you're wanting to spend Bose money, look into those Beats headphones. The quality in those are pretty good and they have good bass if that's what you're looking for. Also Audio Technica ATH-A700 headphones are good quality for just over 100 bucks and I think you could find them used online for cheap as well

Excellent work! Perhaps try more volume dynamics? Large range dynamics are often omitted for sake of concert performance. For instance, Akira Yamaoka and the crew (namely Melissa Williamson, my favorite female singer of all time, tbh) perform the OSTs live for the fans. However, in a studio environment, especially for movie and game scores, volume dynamics are terrific and provide the extra oomph to works. I could imagine a wispy synthesizer droning one note in a fade in, going from squishy to wide sound. The reason I mention the genius Yamaoka, by the way, is because your work somewhat reminded me of him.
