ok so I had an idea that inspired me to look online on how to draw chibi dogs. :p anyways, I saw this pic of a little girl in a dog suite and I thought "That would be AWESOME!!! I can totally make a pic of what my dog would look like as a little chibi girl dressed in a dog suite. so I ended up drawing this:

<a href="http://s1136.photobucket.com/albums/n488/MaxxDesk/?action=view&amp;current=princesspiddlesworthcopy.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1136.photobucket.com/albums/n488/MaxxDesk/princesspiddlesworthcopy.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" width="244.5" height="300"></a>

and my dog is a min pin... dunno if I should add a pic of her...

Anyways.. any advice ?

Since you used HTML, I just set the width and height to a smaller size. It would be best tough, to have the image saved at a small smaller image size in the first place before posting. If you have something like GIMP or Photoshop, just go to Image > Image Size or Scale Image. You can set the width or height to something smaller (around 600-800 on the largest side is the best way to go).

Anyways, it looks cute. Maybe you should add a crown just to show that she is a princess. Btw, if you want critique's, it's best to post in the Critique Corner. C:

Thanks will do it all

I still find it really lean and such, not really instant-love cute... how would I get it insta love?

You're going in the right direction for sure. Generally, when drawing chibi's, they're about two heads tall (i.e. you draw two circles, the same size, one on top of each other). One head, you draw the body, and the other head is for drawing the characters face. I suggest you try drawing the rest of the image. Anyways, here's some inspiration (http://www.google.com/images?hl=en&source=imghp&biw=1680&bih=867&q=chibis&gbv=2&aq=f&aqi=g10&aql=&oq=).

A problem I am having with drawing the rest of the body is mainly knowing where to put the hands. I mean I want the girl excited, but I dunno if "two hands in the air" would be best... but thanks for your help Rio

How about doing something like this:

http://mangatutorials.net/art/examples/joy_sample.jpg

The star and the three lines also express joy so you can use one of those to add excitement to your drawing.

gonna make the star into a heart but I like the first one. Still unsure about the arms... will have to try it and see

Thanks though Rio. You are, although the only, the best help I've got since I came back

ok so I finished my dog and finally got time to put it up here.

this is Princess Kyra Piddlesworth in the sketch I drew:

<a href="http://s1136.photobucket.com/albums/n488/MaxxDesk/?action=view&amp;current=scan0005.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1136.photobucket.com/albums/n488/MaxxDesk/scan0005.jpg" border="0" alt="bw Kyra"width="200" height="300" ></a>

And here is a quick digitally inked version:

<a href="http://s1136.photobucket.com/albums/n488/MaxxDesk/?action=view&amp;current=scan0005copy.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1136.photobucket.com/albums/n488/MaxxDesk/scan0005copy.jpg" border="0" alt="inked" width="200" height="300"></a>

what's your guys' opinions on my sketch? and lol on my inked version?

any tips?

Its Cute, i mean the second pic.The first pic feel gloomy. Try bright colors.

Edit:
My advice: Third pic is cute too but 4th (inked pic), like i just say, try different color or make this dark color a lil soft using gradien or shadow.

Here's a tip: Don't use full black for anything but the lines that you used to draw the character. If you want to use black for coloring, pick a shade of black that's a bit lighter than true black (#000000). That way, you can add shading and highlights nicely.

Cute! It turned out nicely. :thumbs up:

Comparing to the first drawing, you've improved much ^_^

hmm.. ok, we can draw the eyes in a different way so Kyra will look more feminine. Chibies usually look innocent, try to find the eye style that fits her.

Good job =)

Thanks Reset, Rio and Yara.

I will try it without full black... however like I said, it was my first inking trial ever.. it was hard just to get it paintable because of how it scanned.... does anyone has tips for that?

Try scan it with "Black and White Photo"-Document-Type Setting. Don't use Full Color Photo Setting. So the result only has two color, and its more easy to edit before printing it. Umm, are you using software or coloring it manually for the 4th pic?

Well I used photoshop and just coloured it with their fill tool. But a friend suggested to use my tablet.

as for the scanning, I'll try that but normally it ends up with me having missing parts. like the bottom of the feet or something

Ahh I got problem like that before, you must use bold type pencil than using hard type for it missing part to be appear, or just inked it before scaning.
