I need to update my tech. I have a Bamboo Fun right now, but looking at the screen (and not my hand) while drawing is no bueno. I've priced a few already, but they're like $1000 & up. I can swing $500 for one. Anybody know of one around that price range?

err...If I posted this in the wrong place, my bad...

As much as I love that Cintiq 24....THAT SHIT'S LIKE 2GRAND (and some mo' shit)! That Yinyova is just within my budget. I'll have to eat maruchan for a pay period, but that's cool.

As reviews have said, it's great for the artist on a budget, but it's no Cintiq. But what general artist really needs a Cintiq? I mean cmon, if you're using a Cintiq, you're either rolling in the dough cause you're already a professional and can afford it and feel the need to have more 'hands-on control', or you have access to one at your workplace.
I'd say the reviews look good for this little thing. I've been spotting the smaller version for a bit myself, might get one when I have the cash.

What's the smaller version's specs (and price)?

I'm getting whatever the newest model Cintiq is for me and Brian when Jaittaceti makes it big after a few great games and we open an office. That'll be a good $8,000 purchase right there, but it looks so fucking worth it.

It's just a tool, bruh. Dunno about you but I don't see a Cintiq over $999 worth the asking price really.

Man you don't understand it won't even be necessary I'll just be so rich that I'll spend a lot of money on shit that has use, yes, but is way too much power and just a lot of extra unnecessary shit added on the the essential base component.

Great find gunzet! I might just get one of these rather then building a diy cintiq

Like Gunzet said man, at the end of the day, cintiq is only a pricey tool with a lot of function that ill never touch like the hot keys. I'll still use my nostromo for key bindings rather then that silly touch strip. Not to mention I heard the 10 inch version have a much better display then the cintiq 24inch.

Its not the product, its how you use what you got mate ;D

Once I saved up enough commission income, im going for the 10inchHD version. Ill update you guys once i get it ;D

Thank you for being so descriptive. That was really helpful. :cat_wind:

But seriously though, I'm passing on getting any tablet/laptop hybrids for now but I may look it over again next year. :>

I wouldn't trust a 'tablet' to work as a 'graphics tablet' due to potential flexibility, pressure, and driver issues. Better off going with the separate deal just to be sure.

EDIT: Although Linz uses an ASUS Eee Slate EP121, and that's what she uses to draw everything with. It does work quite good, but it's not always 100% dependable.

Well that's because it's an ASUS. As far as laptops go, it's the only brand we can trust as visual designers and gamers alike. And, to a certain degree, I'd say with PCs as well. I have an ASUS mobo and I have to say it's one of the most amazing pieces of technology I've ever utilized at its price. ASUS motherboards coupled with AMD processors and a GFX card with an AMD chipset and Corsair RAM is about as good as you can get with custom built computers, and then it just becomes a matter of finding compatible pieces and appropriate accessories, and your system will be easily the most reliable machine you've ever worked on. Oh jeez man I just rambled big time, I'm really sorry guys but I don't feel like deleting all that text haha.

If anyone else is considering getting a iPad/Surface/tablet device for drawing, I would hold off for now. Wacom announced that they are releasing their own this summer.

I knew it! I've been holding off on an iPad/Surface/tablet device for this exact same reason. The only downside I see is that it may be a hit or miss with Wacom on the first go (thinks of Inkling) and it may be expensive... <_<
