Yeah, I'm back. Been drawing at least one thing every day and I figured I'd start posting them. I'd like plenty of feedback and critique as I'm trying a lot of new things to get a feel for different mediums. A lot will be done in GB probably.

Some crazy bike thing. I was mainly focusing on the strange colors that turned out really fun.

http://www.mangatutorials.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=172&d=1347435095
I was thinking "what is unconventional and probably fun to draw?" Barbarian bunny rabbit doodle.

http://www.mangatutorials.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=173&d=1347435095
Now this, this I spent time on. Working really hard to tighten up my linework and edit the product so that it doesn't always look so loose in composition. I like to think I'm making some progress, but only time will tell.

They are all incredibly awesome :D I remember seeing you draw that bunny barbarian :P no critiques from me, just exclaiming how awesome your artwork is :3

That barbarian rabbit reminds me 100% of Overgrowth (http://www.wolfire.com/overgrowth).

But man, that third picture in your first post is all kinds of awesome, and your concept art looks great all around. What were you doing all this time you've been gone in order to get that good (you even missed Saimoe)?

That Overgrowth thing looks kind of interesting. I've been practicing conceptual design like crazy for a while now because that's mostly what I'm interested in doing. Also, I've been playing IRL, but it's pretty much the worst game ever. Hopefully I'll be able to forgo that a bit.

My chunk of a collab on the GB earlier today. Kind of NSFW so I spoiler'd it for all the kids out there.

My sense of human anatomy was horrid earlier, so this wasn't as easy as I'd have liked.

And a scary girl I doodled.

I like both of these a lot! Though, I think both of their arms are too short (at least in the first one).

GaBo
09-15-2012, 01:19 AM
Oh, yeah, you're totally right about the arms. I had trouble getting them right and I guess I still didn't quite fix them.

Just a big weapons platform sans weapons. Had a strange shape for the chassis that I had to fix like three times. It's sloppy and a bit asymmetrical where it shouldn't be but you get the idea.

Lotsa cool stuff,

but if you want to become a designer you should really pay attention to linear perspective, and use it whenever you're in doubt about something. It'll take you just a minute or two two plot it out, I guess it took you longer than that to re-paint it three times?
http://i1150.photobucket.com/albums/o608/jenbe753/awesomerobo1_9.pngThis may not have been the shape you wanted for the platform, but it's just to show how simple it is to do.

I'm looking forward to the turbo cute girls :)

Egads, I see what you mean. I didn't really bother to draw up reference points so I just sort of winged the perspective, but now it's more or less fixed I think. Thanks very much.

your artworks are eye candies. the mech is wonderful.
can't wait for Casshern sketch to be colored. awesome foreshortening. although i find his left hand too small for the distance implied by the rest of the body... maybe when i see the colored one it wouldnt be odd... nice gesture drawing, really fluid. you even have highights and shadows blocked in your sketch... you're quite precise with your drawings considering the looseness of it all. that's awesome.

Hum. It's a bit hard to find what to say, since it's still a bit gribbly and all... But the perspective is pretty spot on. Perhaps his left hand is a little too small still? His waist also might need shrinking, but the lines are pretty unfinished there anyhow. Overall it's quite nice.

Also, totally makes me want to repeatedly yell "CASHAAAN!~ CASHAAAN!~"

It's a little old, but I don't think anybody will be too angry for me posting new stuff here.

Really dig those first two. You know I'm a sucker for those sketchy styles, so I especially like the first.
I think you should just dig it up if you still have it, and take it further, maybe even finishing it, cause the style on that is real nice. Especially how you clean the lines up with darker lines, but it's still got that sketchiness to it. Just style for days mang.

Gunzet: Yeah, sketchy is just how it happens with me. I always like to do a few passes to at least make the intended details a bit clearer though.

Linz: Yeah I need to color more stuff. Too many doodles, not enough finished work, heh.

And here's another such doodle:

I really like the last two, particularly this newest one. Strangely, it reminds me of the thing you get turned into at the start of one of the old Wonderboy games, albeit in a far more realistic style. My only slight concern is that I find it difficult to tell what it (he?) is holding on to.

Yeah, the weapons were sort of an afterthought to be honest. They're like kama or something I guess.

Some Viking looking kid. Doodled in the GB. I know I'll realize something glaringly wrong about the anatomy tomorrow.

theAnimeRebel

Hah hah, How to Train Your Dragon. Yeah, the arms are really way too small for the rest of his body... you need to make the torso larger so that it fits the legs.

Here's a tip in general: I know these are just doodles/sketches, but try to use more confidence in your line work. (This is a problem I have too) Lines should be fluid, "skritching" can only get you so far, and it lends itself to concentrating too much on one section of the figure which makes the whole image go to pot. If you're using a tablet (which I assume you are for the majority of these guys) then maybe just try using a higher opacity. *shrugs*
Please note I'm not an expert, just a rebel.

your recent sketches are really well thought out..great design in all of them.. my fav piece is that merman dude so far!
you might have to work a bit on your lighting though..
overall i loved them :)

Yes, I love all your sketches! The robot guy looks uneven, though, since one arms way bigger than the other. I think he'd fall over from the uneven weight

Rubisko
01-21-2013, 12:49 PM
I really like that robot, if it had been a toy like that it would probably have been one of my favorites as a kid. With ball joints throughout the legs you could probably have it stand on any kind of surface.

In general I agree with this tho

Been meaning to comment here for a while... The mecha thingy, for starters, is extremely nice. I like how you blended in realistic vehicle details like the box sections on the legs. Can't help but feel like it could have been greatly improved my more thought having gone into the head, through. Right now it's not bad skill wise, but just kinda flat and boring. What JJJorgie was saying about the weight distribution could probably have been solved simply by giving him more armour on the left shoulder, too. But yeah, like I said, it is extremely nice. :p

Other than what has already been said about the viking kid, I also feel like the top part of his chest ends much too low down. Alrough that could also to be to do with the fact that his torso is kinda small overall...

I'll be lurking here in future, anyhow, like I really should have been doing for a while now. ;I
