Why don't you mess around with the tools and settings until you get a technique that gets what you want? Play with the opacity of the brush, different tools, etc etc. Seriously, it's a lot better to experiment

I agree that it's good to experiment - everyone has their own style, and artists can use the same tools and create completely different things. If you want some ideas of the sorts of tools to use to find which you prefer, it's usually helpful to watch artists on youtube, find out the tools they use, and try them yourself. Some common shading tools are 'brush' 'blur' 'watercolour' and 'pen', but you can also edit pen settings yourself, such as making the edges blurry, changing the opacity, and how much the brush will blend with other colours. I recommend messing around with different things (maybe get some lineart off of the lineart bank here at MT or just off google) to experiment, that way you don't have to spend a long time making the lineart yourself, but some of the brushes i mentioned above could be a good starting point

May I ask why you need to know how specific artists created specific pieces?
Have you tried asking the artists directly? Because I don't think anyone but them really knows.
