View Full Version : Humble Indie Bundle V

05-31-2012, 02:53 PM

By far the best bundle I've seen imo.

Bastion (Locked unless you "beat the average")

Its worth it alone for superbrothers but those other games are cool too especially psychonauts.

05-31-2012, 03:14 PM
I'd only get it for Bastion and Amnesia, if I didn't already have the two.

05-31-2012, 04:44 PM
Holy shit I am buying this as soon as my money arrives

05-31-2012, 05:26 PM
Well, might as well. Still won't have any money 'till tomorrow though.

05-31-2012, 08:55 PM
Woo! Finally get to try Amnesia!

05-31-2012, 10:43 PM
this bundle makes me sad because I already have the games except for SUPERBROTHERS SWORDS AND SWORCERY EP

05-31-2012, 11:02 PM
Only ones I don't have is Psychonauts and Superbrothers.

05-31-2012, 11:04 PM
psychonauts is pretty awesome but I stop playing it for a while and then forget all the controls

05-31-2012, 11:21 PM
Superbrothers is so good just thinking about it makes me unghhhhh

05-31-2012, 11:39 PM
I have amnesia and I have limbo on the ps3 so I only have one of the games in the bundle (on the computer).

05-31-2012, 11:43 PM
I might just get this for Psychonauts and give away the extra copies.
Well actually, I couldn't do that, huh.

05-31-2012, 11:44 PM
The fact that you guys aren't excited about superbrothers is seriously wigging me out what is wrong here

06-01-2012, 12:07 AM
I haven't heard about it. Tell me moar Jubeh

06-01-2012, 12:10 AM
Its the best game of all time with music by jim guthrie. You play it with headphones and take a break between chapters. Its orgasmic.

06-01-2012, 12:14 AM
Oh yah I have seen that but I didn't pay any attention since I don't have an iphone or whatever. I didn't realise it was available on pc
Ok say I bought it, but I haven't been sent my link yet. Isn't the process usually instant once you pay?

06-01-2012, 06:56 AM
Well, I got the link instantly, but it probably depends on your e-mail provider. I use gmail.

Bought the bundle for $10. :D
To be honest I'm most excited by Bastion, but I'll definitely play Amnesia, Superbrothers, Limbo. Dunno if I can be bothered with Psychonauts.

06-01-2012, 10:40 AM
Bastion is really, really awsome!

06-01-2012, 11:02 AM
Played the first episode of Superbrothers, and I can see why Jubeh's so excited about it now. Dat art. Dat music. Dat writing.

The writing sounded like Jubeh...

06-01-2012, 11:13 AM
Once you get into Bastion, there's no coming back....stion.....

06-01-2012, 02:11 PM
Just realized in the op I put amnesia twice and didnt put limbo. Must have been because I hate limbo or something.

06-01-2012, 03:23 PM
I played Limbo on Newgrounds a while ago. It was pretty cool but not really my kind of game, something about the puzzles just frustrated me.

06-01-2012, 05:09 PM
I'm about halfway through Limbo now, waiting for the others to download. Yeah, the puzzles are a bit frustrating, even though they're pretty easy. I can't figure out what it is about them that makes them frustrating. It's weird.

06-01-2012, 05:32 PM
I think I'd really enjoy Bastion if my PC weren't way too slow for it.

06-01-2012, 05:34 PM
I didn't like bastion's gameplay but the presentation was op

06-01-2012, 05:41 PM
Ok so am I the only who didn't find limbo frustrating?

06-01-2012, 05:41 PM
I didn't like limbo for a number of reasons but frustration wasn't part of it

06-01-2012, 05:47 PM
Limbo is awesome, but yea, some of the things are really frustrating. Hell I've been stuck on a part for a few months now, since then I haven't touched it.

06-01-2012, 09:25 PM
I bought it for a dollar because I'm a cheapskate like that.

06-01-2012, 10:03 PM
You know what I've found funny about what people think when you buy a bundle really cheap, it's that they criminalize you like mad.

The dudes that pay a buck or anything under that usually come under so much fire it's crazy, like, paying low is worse than pirating and paying nothing to these people.

06-02-2012, 03:00 AM
Swordbrothers really messed with my head. I like legit was psychologically toyed with.

06-02-2012, 07:29 AM
I'm not too far into it yet, but it's reminding me of the old King's Quest games so far due to the animations and graphics. It's kinda cool when a new game can make me feel nostalgic.

06-02-2012, 08:03 AM
The dudes that pay a buck or anything under that usually come under so much fire it's crazy, like, paying low is worse than pirating and paying nothing to these people.

Both are pretty massive douche moves. You're not compensating people who need the money for their product, and if you pay that little for the Humble Bundle you're hardly giving anything to charity either. I'm only really cool with pirating if it's from a big company that won't be affected by it. I mean, I think stealing is the same. Steal something from Wal-Mart, so fucking what. Steal something from a corner shop and you're an asshole.

06-02-2012, 09:04 AM
Sadly enough, there's a lot of people out there pirating Indie games. Which was why Notch just didn't give a shit when people started snagging Minecraft.

06-02-2012, 12:55 PM
Paying a dollar for the Indie Bundle isn't all that bad, because at least the developers/charity are still getting paid. One or two cents is bad: Wolfire actually has to pay more for the bandwidth than you do for the games in that case.

06-02-2012, 04:38 PM
So I wasn't like scum of the earth dirtbag evil, just slightly evil? Good to know.

06-02-2012, 04:42 PM
Paypal takes like 32 cents dont they

06-02-2012, 04:45 PM
Don't know if they take that much. Probably, I forgot since the last bundle I bought.

06-02-2012, 06:24 PM
I'm not sure how much Paypal takes. I just know I wouldn't let myself pay a cent for good games.

06-02-2012, 07:29 PM
They need a hundred cents!

06-03-2012, 11:27 AM
I think when the developers of the games make their games available through a program like this they are aware that some people are going to pay very little and most of the people not paying a lot are generally doing so because money is tight. The games still get a lot of publicity out of taking part and sell a lot more copies than they might otherwise have, even if the profits are not massive. So I don't think its fair to say that people paying a small amount are evil. They are acting within the expected bounds of the humble bundle project, and the developers themselves might not even mind that much.

06-03-2012, 11:39 AM
Yea. Though Humble Bundle did become aware of people completely ripping off the system early on with people paying stuff like 1 cent and stuff. That's why they made it a certain minimum (usually $1) to get Steam keys with your games.
They've also promoted paying more than the bare Steam minimum by having unlockable games if you pay more than the usual amount, which depends on what the people that have money to spend are paying, and it goes up every time more people hit that unlockable amount.

But yea, if 90% of the devs being featured really don't give a damn about the people outright stealing their game. I'm almost sure they don't care about the people paying a dollar, and when it's a 'pay what you want' kind of thing, they better expect that to happen.

06-03-2012, 08:36 PM
You can also donate more money after you've purchased and played the games, so I think its a really nice system

06-04-2012, 03:06 AM
I love the humble indie bundles. I usually donate around $10 to each so I don't feel like I'm taking the games for almost free.

06-04-2012, 03:20 PM
$10 is all I could afford, but one of these days I'm gonna pay full price for a bundle. Beats giving my money to Blizzard.

Also, this wallpaper is pretty awesome.
First time I've changed away from solid blue in a long time.

06-07-2012, 04:37 PM
Super Meat Boy
Lone Survivor

were added as unlockable games if you've beaten the average price. You should get em for free if you already paid over that amount.... I think.

06-07-2012, 04:42 PM
Played Super Meat Boy. Just finished downloading the other two. I've been wanting to play Braid for awhile, so I'll see how it is.

06-07-2012, 07:23 PM
man i would have payed more if super meat boy was in it earlier

06-07-2012, 08:08 PM
I bought Braid full price before I bought the bundle. >__<

06-07-2012, 08:54 PM
Same here with Bastion. That said, "full price" is actually reasonable for these games. Bastion was $15, and it felt like I was getting at least $100 worth of entertainment and thought out of it.

Super Meat Boy was designed to be challenging without being frustrating, but me not being a huge fan of precision platforming, I got frustrated after the third world. That said, I absolutely love how they can make every level work well with completely different characters. Super Meat Boy is super well-done.

06-08-2012, 04:23 AM
Wasn't Braid from an earlier bundle? I'm sure that's how I got it.

06-08-2012, 06:59 AM
I think it was, and so was SMB. I started buying bundles with the Introversion bundle though. I missed the first three.

06-08-2012, 11:41 AM
The best Bundle imo was Bundle#4 that came with Jamestown, Bit.Trip Runner, SMB, Shank, and NightSky (with additions of Cave Story+ and Gratuitous Space Battles)

06-08-2012, 04:33 PM
I'm still trying to beat Jamestown now.

That said, I think I prefer the current bundle. People on The Escapist were accusing Braid's creator of being a pretentious jerk for saying his game provided intellectual stimulation for adults, but he was right. I'm not a fan of 2D (or 3D) platformers, but it's thought-provoking enough to keep me going. I'm glad they included it.

THAT said, Cave Story+ allowed me to keep going where I'd left off in the translated version, and I still say it's my favorite game (followed by Bastion, of course).

06-08-2012, 04:36 PM

Yeah apparently you can make games that are thought provoking and unique but the minute you admit it you're suddenly some sort of arrogant douche. I guess we're all doomed to be dishonest and humble to protect everyones feelings.

We're all living in America/Coca-Cola sometimes war

06-08-2012, 07:45 PM
Apparently he had some other comments to go along with it: "Most games don't provide enough intellectual stimulation for adults." or something like that. So... even though he's right, that makes him a condescending, pretentious jerk?

No, screw that. I'm making a game about a girl trying to find her parents in a hurricane while non-verbally criticizing the horrible treatment of children in a divorce; if Braid is being criticized for being a pretentious art game, that's not good for me.

That and I'm loving Braid so far. I'd love to sit down and have a chat with the devs.

06-08-2012, 07:51 PM
Just buy Indie Game: The Movie.

06-08-2012, 08:22 PM
I'm totally getting that. @_@
