View Full Version : Tetsu's arts: 3D animation on p.2
05-05-2012, 07:07 PM
Well, hi everyone, as I said, the last 2 years I was...Doing schoolwork, and learning how to become good at 3D art and animation :I And hell, my learning curve was desastrous, cauz at first, I always stink at anything. ,_, So basically, I don't feel like my 3D art is really good, far from that xD So I'll just show what I actually did good. And the few art I'm happy with xD I'm not gonna post all at the same time cauz I'm sort of busy right now, and it'll avoid having too many pics to load in one bam.
So here it goes.
Last year I made a 3D Gurren Lagann...The topology sucks but it ended up looking okay xD
I made a few characters for a project I'm making with friends :D
I also made this lighting exersise including some basic mod, it was fun :I
Lately I also made this character for modelisation and animation called John Paul :I
And here's the progress,. Theres an animation system and unwrap, but it's hidden right now, I still need to work on it, but I'll obviously send more pics of that later :P
He looks kind of weird, but it's my first character made with a proper topology with a teacher in help. I used to make characters without enough knowledge, making em impossible to texture and animate properly. :P
Well that's all for now, I'll post animations soon :D
Cauz lately I've been animating stuff, and im not so bad at it, my learning curve is Sllloooooowwwwwwwwwwwwww
Oh well, sorry for having nothing really special after such a long time xD Im learning stuff right now so.
well, C and C welcome!

Do ttgl with a little galaxy by him for scale
It'll prolly do it xD
I'd like to make a fanart of Gurren Lagann fighting along Nirvash from Eureka Seven and Canti from Furi Kuri :D
Cauz they're my favorite robots from my 3 favorites animes :p
But of course Im gonna have to my ttgl in another picture, cauz hes so big xD Unless I make a Toggen toppa Furi Kuri Lord Canti ;D

Thanks a lot JJJorgie :D

Well, Ive been working on my character today and yesterday, now he looks like this: :U
Plz ignore the fact the here has no iris, that there is a flying bag and the fact that the background is weird, its a test, lol.
And yeah its my first character unwrap, ever..Im a bit late >_>

I can't see any of your art! You should upload it to your gallery and then link it from there to here. That's what I do, so everyone can see it no matter what ^3^
05-06-2012, 09:32 PM
You can't see it wth? Your internet must be slow or something. Check my Da then..
it doesnt have the new stuff on this thread exept for gurren lagann, but theres still a lot to see there, check it out if you want xD

DeviantART is blocked. It's because I'm on a school netbook and where you are hosting from is a blocked site so the images don't appear. I haven't seen any of your art at all.

The whole fact that you're doing art in 3D is really cool. It's something that I'd never even attempt!

Awesome stuff, Tetsu. Though I wonder, I've seen this gradual shift with you going from drawing, to 3D. I think I remember what you're going for though... I think, but it's looking pretty good. Much better than my models, which are just tossed together with a total disregard for poly-distribution, lol. Gonna rig him up? Use any sculpting programs?
05-07-2012, 10:45 PM
moar moar ;3
05-09-2012, 05:19 AM
Yawl man, looks like you havent change much ;D
05-09-2012, 03:39 PM
JJJorgie: I suggest you to try it out, but you need some tutoring first, which is easy to find on the internet lol. You should try with blender first, it's free. Cauz the actual programs are expensive ._. But available for free illegally but I'm not supporting this >A><
Anyways, thanks a lot :P
Gunzet: Yeah, it's more like I had to put drawing aside as a second nature to truly focus on 3D. I dunno what you mean by what I'm going for but oh well, you know, I guess I,m going to a job in something I like, but I desperatly need to improve my skills at it, I'm far from the standards of industry. And if you don't care about poly distribution, I suggest you Zbrush. I haven't used it much but I'm gonna have a course soon :D For the rigging, it's actually done. Im animating it. :P Im not too happy with the animation but that's okay xD
Anyways thanks tons, Gunzet
Cloudy: Yes mam :D
doghateburger: Is that a negative thing? xD Yeah I know, as I said to Gunzet, I really did'nt draw much as soon as I started my second year of animation 3D and my breakup may be one of the reason why drawing got difficult at first :I but then its basically school and all those movie projects, jobs and other stuff. I've been doing so much stuff, it may not have changed my drawing abilities yet, but as a person I think I've changed, but I really, really wish to go back to drawing to progress a step forward, but damn is it hard to find the time. .-. Rusty as hell too D8
Well, I'm gonna show you guys two animations I'm happy with in particular.
Walk Cycle amd Jumping, nothing too fancy.
Well, comments and crits welcome, however, the teacher already punched me with a critic xD so lets see if someone can point out something he haven't said :p
05-09-2012, 06:23 PM
I liked the first one. It was really fluid and natural. He has this uppity walk that reminds me of Bradely Uppercrust III from An Extremely Goofy Movie. I'm iffy on the second one, though. The way he lands in the middle, doesn't suggest that he could make a fluid second jump like that. I think that if you kept the middle mannequin sequence, you'd probably have to adjust the end to make him stumble and barely make it onto the last part.
05-18-2012, 03:28 PM
Nah, its all negative man, I understand your situation, I too lack time to draw as much as I want. At the very least, you are making good progress with your 3D animations. The walk cycle looks pretty smooth. Maybe you should try combining these two aspect of art together, *wink wink ;DD
05-18-2012, 04:20 PM
What bugs me the most about the walk cycle is his lack of back movement. He should be bending and sorts. The second one has extremely over-exaggerated movements for what should be generally easy to accomplish, physically, with minimal effort. I would have had him walk towards the gap and hop to the surface and land with only one foot, using it to push himself to the other side. Maybe I would have made him stumble and catch the second ledge with both feet on the actual wall part of the gap.

c-f:thanks tons for your hlpful comment, I took that in use in my other animations I did lol, its true that my animations are pretty straight forward lol, I only thnik about making the character from point a to point b sometimes. I wanted to be too clean and simple, lol, I see that that jumping gap should end differentlyT_T
Iccy: WAAAA D;;; Yeah im so rusty I admit, I often take breaks now cauz school asks artistic effort so I zone out sometimes when im not at school so I dont draw muxch, it really sux ._. But hey im doing the same crap but in 3D so., lets say its just as helpful, even more :D THANKSSSSS And yeah ill combine that knowledge totally.
Fragment: yeah the first animation was kind of not bended too much but I really didnt want to exagerate too much :p For the second animation, As said before I guess looking at it now it looks quite robotic and forced. Its like all those large, mecanic movement for a simple jump, and the end needed what seefy mentionned, well, thanks a lot for pointing all that out.
Nowww Ill show you guys a few 3D stuff, and J2 XD
John paul final renders
Dino monster (has a prettier turntable but imma gonna upload it later)
Heres drawings of J2
And thats it for now, enough upload for today!
oh crap, cant change the thread title T_T >____<

Oh they are all amazing ;___; no critiques, instead I shall just stare in awe :3
11-02-2012, 08:44 AM
wow the 3d stuff looks really cool :3 texture is awesome. may need more layers of texture to be more realistic, what software do you use?
The action pose is just fantastic :3 i love the focus, gesture and foreshortening. Its inspiring really :3
last pic abdomen may be slightly longer than usual or legs might be shorter than usual but besides that design and colors are really cool.
I like your style! its interesting and unique.
11-03-2012, 02:53 AM
Damn your 3d shit is dope.
11-03-2012, 12:50 PM
Wooww your stuff is amazing!
Your 3D stuff is awesome! I really like the 8th picture (black and white one). The angle and pose are just mindblowing.
