By creating a film millions have dreamed about, Peter Jackson inadvertently brings about the end of the world in December, 2012.

Just playin'. I can't wait I can't wait I can't wait!

I wasn't so exited at the beginning, I like the Hobbit, but I'm not a big fan of most fantasy stories. But after seen everything they are doing in that video I feel I have to watch this movie, even more, I feel I have to watch it in 3D (I hate 3D movies).

What sold me completely was: 48 cameras, memories of 128 gigas, 5k resolution and 48 frames per second. So I die with that. Its like looking to the future of film making.

I like how they're going all out to try to make it as natural to our vision as possible. There's so much about the film industry that fascinates me! I love to watch these kinds of clips, cause it really gives you an appreciation for all the hard work that goes into creating something of quality.

I can't tell you how many times I've read The Hobbit (I think a lot of people are this way) and I really enjoyed the cartoons as a kid (though I was scared of Gollum big time!)

You're making me want to read it again, Clock :P That's a good thing.

It would be interesting for people to go with unnatural ocular styles in 3D. If this team is trying to make 3D realistic, you could probably make some really cool and creepy effects by going in the opposite direction.

I have to agree with you, I was never a fan of 3D movies. I felt the added nothing to the film and only made the picture a little bit fuzzy. But knowing Peter Jackson and his film crew, they're always coming up with innovative ideas to make the movie better (such as the 48fps, 5k resolution, etc that you mentioned) so I'm actually looking forward to see what this will end up looking like.

So the hobbit is basically a retelling of snow white right

Bacon_Barbarian

Pretty much. The only real difference is that Snow White is a dude. And a midget.

Blue_Dragon

Snow White would have been better if Smaug tore their shit up. Smaug kicks ass.

In fact, I really liked Smaug. Let's face it, the dwarves were a bunch of greedy asses, so why was it okay for them to be jerks, but not the dragon?

Frickin' gollum in the 1977 cartoon is scarier than in the LOTR movies. In this version. The gollum in this version was not scary all in (in my opinion:

Though I certainly enjoyed both films.

Man I like the movie but I think its more because of nostalgia rather than the movie being outstanding

So I watched this whole thing just because the animation is so great. A lot of obvious rotoscoping in some parts heh.

I read the Hobbit, then saw the first LoTR movie completely forgetting about it until months later when I started to realize how similar the characters were.
