This is now the 4th Holy Grail War. The 3 preceding Wars had ended without a victor. In pursuit of their individual goals and ambitions, the magi congregate at a place called Fuyuki. All the magi will do anything, rationalize away any atrocity, in pursuit of the Holy Grail.

All of them, but one...

Kotomine Kirei is a mage, but one without a reason to fight. Unable to release himself from the threads of fate, he is drawn reluctantly into this War.

However, as fate would have it, one of his rival Masters turns out to be an old enemy, Emiya Kiritsugu, a man more severe and merciless than anyone else. A man who desires the miracles offered by the Holy Grail...

It's almost started. Been waiting for this for a very long time, and I have a feeling it will be one of the best of the year. This is the prequel to Fate/Stay Night. (http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=3348) It's set 10 years before the event that take place in Fate/Stay.

The first episode is set to be a one hour special, and the anime will follow the VN's most common playthrough.

Anyone else looking forward to this? :P

I haven't watched fate stay night, I was busy playing super mario sunshine when my brother bought it along with chrono crusade and keep watching it and keep talking about it with his friends.

I guess i should go watch fate stay night first.

I suggest playing the VN after as well. It is a lot better.

The new characters... O:

Irisviel von Einzbern and Tokiomi Tohsaka. Plus Shirou's dad. Gilgamesh is now Archer, and apparently Ilya and Rin make appearances. This is getting me excited.

I don't think there's a Fate/Zero Visual Novel. I think it was a short story series or something.

There is a Fate/Zero VN, but it's never been translated. Fate/Stay Night has a translated VN, and it's eroge-optional. It's also been said to be the best VN ever made by anyone who has played it.

"When released on January 30, 2004, Fate/stay night rapidly became one of the most popular visual novels in history, securing the title of 'highest selling visual novel' in 2004 of the adult game retailer Getchu.com."

Edit: Trailers/New Releases:

Also, the OP singer is apparently going to be LiSA, one of my favourite J-Singers. /Win.

After inspecting sources I have confirmed that Fate/Zero is not, in fact, a visual novel.

Not gonna let anyone one-up me on Fate/Stay night trivia. xD

Oh wow, my bad. It's a Light Novel. Nevertheless, it still has never been translated. That's why this will be so good.

Rofl. You should've been the one to make this thread.

Well, at least we can all agree that the anime will be amazing.

Fate/Zero episode one First Impressions:

Amazing first episode.

The first episode is more of an informative episode rather than action-orientated; but it was hands-down one of the best opening episodes I've seen to date. It tells p. much all the backstories of the characters and tells us who summons who. It also gives you a tonne of backstory information that makes Fate/Stay Night so much more intricate then watching it alone. This 47 minute special has amazing visuals, amazing sound, and so far—amazing story. The ending of the episode made me want more and sent chills down my spine. The ending theme is also fairly nice. All I can say is: If you haven't watched this yet, watch it now.

Here are some screenshots I took in thumbnail format. I tried to keep out spoilers:
