i think the first you should practice is lines. don't make them too much thick, atleast make line thick of only to those outside the drawings.

Eye was hurriedly placed and too lazy to touch it up so that's the outcome, I like simple eyes as thats all I can do for now.

What are you refering to specifically? the eyes look fine to me, in fact I really like the first one. There are a number of issues with the second one. Bad perspective on the feet, head is turned to far towards to the putting her in an uncomfortable position, Calves are too low, legs are kinda wonky and bendy, the hand holding the staff is upside and doesn't appear to be effectively gripping the object. Most of these issues are easy to resolve and I understand this is a difficult pose. I really applaud you for trying to tackle it though. I'll see If I Can cook up a redline to help you out.

i'm not saying about eye placement. I'm saying if you want cartoon style of eye like that or you really want an anime style of eye?

it is absolutely fine to me if your going for cartoon style

@sparky-j: Glad you like the first one currently im having issues with proportions feel free to correct it so others also may learn from it. Will try to make some pose for her next time and do some perspective too :p, also hope you dont mind if I copy your character pose.

@ramiel: Its really a simple cartoon style but some anime uses that kind of style too cheers, also love your perspectives drawings.

I really enjoy looking at tutorials and some drawings made by other members here, will lurk moar muahahaha.

Just delete my account then. I'm waiting for someone to point out mistakes more specifically than I can. Honestly I don't feel like being bullied by someone on the internet, especially not the admin of a forum. Most of your members are friendly and frankly your PM irritated me. I said I'd stop reviving old threads, that should have been enough. So go ahead and delete my account, I can always find some other place to comment on drawings and post mine when I have a scanner.

I feel that your drawings are kind of stiff. It's not that they are bad it's just you need to make them more interesting. Like better poses maybe. I know studying anatomy is boring but it will help you get maybe less stiff like characters.

You should check out a book called action cartooning, by Ben Caldwell. It's a how to book that is actually really helpful, it's not in anime style, but the tips and tricks can translate from style to style.

link (http://www.amazon.com/Action-Cartooning-Ben-Caldwell/dp/0806987391)

I like your style, but I wanna see more dynamic poses!

@leannah: I glad you like it and yeah theres really alot of issue with my drawings currently and nid to work on it.

@rio: Yay! thanks for lurking and I really appreciate if they can point out what's wrong and this applies to all members as well.

@sparkyJ: Thanks for the encouragement and I know theres still alot of things to be worked on.

@slurpee: Yup that was true its really hard to make your own pose especially if its just pop out of your mind that's why im copying others pose see my recent works :D .

@sparkyJ: thanks again also that link nozma

Glad you like it guys I redo the last pose and fixed some parts and added deida in her shrine clothing.

Ok so anatomy wise your pretty ok, i would work a little bit more on the faces though. I mean you can stick with the way they are now but i think it would look better if you defined more of the face features. Still quite an improvement from the first two pages.

Thank you! Ill try to do more facial expressions the next time its my problem nowadays. Now time for my new character which I named Kino, she is actually the opposite of Deida and her best friend she treats her as her oneechan(I dont know about Deida ^_^).

Good legs. However, you can use some work on perspective for the feet, and the top is very flat and square. The head is somewhat long, esp the forehead, and the ears are sticking out and my OCD hate the disymmetry. The only problem I see with the hair is the hairline, which has seemed to race ahead of the bangs. I do see potential.

ram
09-13-2011, 08:48 PM
it looks really flat, I already told you to work on your lining. don't make it too thick on those lines on the inside like wrinkles in the clothes and stuffs.

BTW: I'd really love to know where you draw.

sketchpad or papper and scan it

or digital
-tablet
-mouse
-touchpad?

edit: I forgot about this

If you're going to critique someone, at least be more specific than "your drawing has lots of problems". If you can't critique properly, then don't post.

I believe Leanah would likely feel bullied if the administrator would say something like this.
I know you could pull something better words than this that wouldn't hurt the feelings of the receiver.

like:

you should understand the feelings of people when you say that "your drawings has a lots of problems" and can't say anything else.
or

be more specific in your critique next time, atleast critique better than "your drawing has lots of problems" just try point out what you can.

I for one can think of a lot of words that woudn't hurt someone but they will still be able to get the message.
I may not know how hard it is to be an administrator and handle disturbing posts all the time, but I believe she doesn't have any wrong intentions when she posted that.

@captain_neko: thanks for the notice those things are what im really working as of now really appreciate it.

@ramiel: Oh thanks for reminding me again yeah I do see the difference now if I applied lighter lines hope this little update get it somehow, im using tablet to draw.

HUUUUUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR all this month I didnt know that my monitor is in bad calibration, it took me months before I noticed the problem. While I was looking at my drawing on my sisters laptop I noticed all my works being too thin or tall and its my HD monitor's fault. Now I did calibrate the monitor output so it would show the correct size and width huuuuuuuuuurrrrr all my drawings this past month needs touching up, here is the comparison.

before:
http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/3327/kino1.png
after calibration:
http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/9788/kinopose1.png
yup I know its proportion still needs work but this is how my drawings should look like not being too thin or tall <_< .

also im really thankfull for the votes you have given, as I can see yuri got the most vote but ill keep my finger's closed and hoping for more votes from other members too.

yeah that's the line I'm talking about, you should get used to 1 or 2 pixel size for brush size.

since your using a tablet, I recommend you draw with your left hands at the ctrl+z and space button all the time.

and another thing, the hair looks like it just pop out, out of nowhere.
observe your favorite anime or cartoon wallpapers about their hair and look carefully where their coming from.

Thanks ram! you made using 1-2 pixel brush sounds easy, also I cant imagine myself drawing tablet with left hand!... ^_^ . I also working on the hair right now and thanks for the notice, recently browsed some works here and got me inspired to make a new pose for my character kino.

oh, sorry, I might have constructed that sentence wrong or something.

put your left hand in the ctrl+z while drawing with your right hand on the tablet.

ctrl+z to erase wrong strokes, and space button to drag the papper. (usually use it when you zoom all the way).

also, make a higher resolution next time, like 2000 pixel width and 3000 pixel height for paper size.

Hi Ram thanks for the suggestions...

also, make a higher resolution next time, like 2000 pixel width and 3000 pixel height for paper size.

I see but thats pretty big, I usually draw within 600x800pixels but Ill give it a try thanks. Just recently made this one its Kino the story behind it I still dunno but she is sometimes like this... <_< , I also thanks for the votes you guys contributed ill dish out some drawings based on the votes.

that's what I'm talking about. with small paper you can't draw more strands of hairs, you can't draw much curls on clothing, so basically you can't draw much detail at all.

for you I suggest you start with big paper rather than trying to draw good and awesome stuffs at small paper.

here's an example, one of h2so4 artworks.

I apologize for the subjectivity, but your art style doesn't seem too appealing to me. It feels...static. I have the same problem with my art, so it's not like you're alone, I just find it a bit rigid.

duh, ofcourse it will be time consuming.
if you have time to worry about how long you could finish your work, do it if you have a job doing a manga and rushing for the deadline.

as for now, you should try and perfect your drawings and think how to make it better.
as soon as your capable of enjoying drawing, you won't even notice how time flies.
