So I'm not sure if this thread has been created long ago in the past.. but anyways, I am always on the hunt for awesome movies that I haven't seen before, so whatevs.

Post your favorite movie(s) and why you like it so much.

Here is one of my favorites:

http://moviesmedia.ign.com/movies/image/object/480/480778/eternal_sunshine_of_the_spotless_mind_posterboxart _160w.jpg

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind! I like it because the characters are believable and quirky, but it has a cool sci-fi-ish concept. I also love the cinematography of it.

Fight Club, just because was the first movie that show me how a movie could be something more than bad writing.

I have to agree with Masooo and Tora. I also have to say all three LOTR's and Avatar (The James Cameron one).

Because it was effing great. Not to mention the awesome CGI for the time it was made. I actually liked this more than most of the animated movies. Although not as violent, it didn't display that wuss emo Spawn, in this he was a total gun-toting badass out for revenge.
I'm still pissed cause McFarlane promised a Spawn 2...like 12 years ago.

edit: "WAAAAAAANDAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaAAAaaAA!"

I know, but wasn't a good movie. I also love Spawn, specially when I was a younger, and in that time the movie was awesome, but being more old I can see a lot of flaws on it and there are MANY better movies.

GunZet
07-25-2011, 04:41 PM
I know it has its flaws, but I'm not a critic, I can't knock it for all that's wrong. It's not fixable. But I STILL love that freaking movie, I'd watch it daily if I had a VCR (cuz I still have the VHS lol).

ClockHand
07-25-2011, 04:44 PM
ok, let's do a experiment, for a month you should watch Spawn every day, after the moment we will see if you are still alive or not.

GunZet
07-25-2011, 04:47 PM
I may have done that once when it came on TV nearly every day for about 2 weeks...I watched every day, hyped. Can I borrow a VCR from anybody?

I hate torrents with a passion.

Also, this movie was pretty good, saw it a few days ago lol. Sorta instantly made it one of my faves because of the ending.

I like a lot of weird flicks...but then again I'm an old guy. Here's my favorite movie though:

http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRo8i34u5npKP5eOeYD0M4d5aBgLDVkB PySWA2YxKu1us-ReiUF

Brazil. Directed by Terry Gilliam.

Why? Because it's like a microcosm of what the world is & what we dream it should be. I love crap like that.

ClockHand

That is a great movie. And Back To The Future is also awesome.

I third that. Brazil is good.

I don't know my favorite, but Clerks is up there.

And Altered States (the Take on Me video is loosely based on this film's end.)

But I think Ikiru might be it.

There is no movie made by kurosawa that doesn't kick asses.

Fuck it, this kind of threads make me want to do the movie's thread again, but those threads always die -.-

Now my favorite Anime? I mean...other than Akira...obviously.

Would have to be...

http://www.couchbound.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/ghost-in-the-shell-movie.jpg

Why? Because Masamune Shirow is friggin' awesome! But seriously, the story deals with questioning what truly defines sentience & a soul. And the Puppet Master as the antagonist? That dude (or AI depending on how you look at it) is worse than SKYNET on a good day.Really awesome anime. I think that the movie is way better than the show, but again, Masamune Shirow is friggin awesome so the show rocks too. I mean...'The Laughing Man'? Who else can come up with some ish as complex and twisted as that?

My favorite movie is easily Alien, although my favorite comedy is Duck Soup.

Every time somebody says kurasawa I have to go watch throne of blood you motherfuckers
My favorite Kurosawa film is Rashamon. Hands down.

EDIT: Okay, not easily. Blade Runner or The Thing is probably second.

The Matrix, simply because it was the first movie I saw that got me thinking more deeply than "We must kill X."

TBH I watch very few movies, and next to nothing obscure.

Dark City was great.

Fenn, make sure you see the version without the opening voice over. It completely spoils the plot and the film and that version is less than worthless.

That's my favourite Matrix

My favourite film is probably Inception. In my opinion it's really re-watchable.

Also, I loved Akira. Absolute classic.

I think you were watching A Clockwork Orange in the wrong way (and only watching the first part?). I concur regarding Ichi the Killer, though.

Characters without personality and goal in the story. A redundant plot with no purpose at all but the only problem of the main character. A narrative based only visually and without depth.

Saying a heist story has a redundant plot is kind of a cheap shot.

Saying a heist story has a redundant plot is kind of a cheap shot.

Is not just plot redundant, is also explanation redundant and concept redundant (also, what is the big goal in doing redundant plot to just say at the end "hey, in reality we never care of this plot idea, we only wanted to go to the main character problem at the end of the movie, dropping away the plot we have been so redundant about it, L O L).
