Man, I can't begin to list down what I would recommend. I'll get back to this once I have all the series down on paper first... by genre too! :3

01-08-2011, 03:32 AM
Naruto(only the manga)
Death Note
Nodame Cantabile
Fairy Tail
Code Geass
Ghost Hunt
Shakugan no shana

I like a lot more of them, and still reading some awesome ones, but these are something I'd read/watch again and again and again.

01-09-2011, 01:36 AM
For manga, (not necessarily anime) these are my favorites:

Mahou Sensei Negima!
Yu-Gi-Oh! + Spinoffs (As much as people put down this series, I stand by the fact that it is one of the most magnificent manga I have ever read...)
Death Note
Busou Renkin
Pocket Monsters Special

And that's all I really feel like is worth enough for me to put on a "favorites" list. And I don't watch anime a whole lot, which is why I didn't inlcude any. I'm more of a manga guy. :U

01-09-2011, 05:39 AM
well because i live in england the only manga i have read are maison ikkoku , chobits and clover.
But anime hower , seen as i can watch online XD

favourites : Death note
Code geass
Perfect Blue
Naoki Urasawas Monster ( favourite of all )

01-09-2011, 06:34 AM
I would also recommend (just like several others) Magister Negi Magi (or Mahou Sensei Negima). Manga only, since the anime is well, for me, not comparable to the manga counterpart. How could I forget to include this manga into my list...

01-09-2011, 10:02 AM
Gintama is absolute ,, imo xD

i have other anime's and manga's i like as well but Gintama is my favourite of all xD

01-09-2011, 11:41 AM
The manga Princess Ressurection is pretty good if you can get past/enjoy the more simplistic art style. The only other one I don't already see on here is the witchblade anime if your into Seinen.

01-09-2011, 10:53 PM
One Piece, Naruto, Death Note... and so on ..... :P

01-10-2011, 02:39 PM
Looking for a action packed thriller series, Any suggestions??
-please no yu-gi-oh, Pokemon, inu yasha,
Action/thriller? I can't believe no one's mentioned Higurashi yet. Watch it if you want brutally violent action, lolis, schoolgirls with cleavers, serial killings, people of all ages and genders going insane (lolis included) and murdering random people, etc. Best anime thriller I've ever seen, complete with a good, non-linear storyline and very low predictability. Surpasses the mainstream anime by a long way.

Season 1: Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni (Rena's arc FTW)
Season 2: Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni Kai
OVA: Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni Rei (not near as good as the first two, IMO)

For something much less dark and/or disturbing, go read History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi. Not really a thriller, but it's got 400+ chapters of martial arts action, way too exaggerated for real life and much more realistic than DBZ. Plot isn't too original, but because of the funny characters, endless fighting, and the pure joy of watching a pathetic loser turn into a hero over the course of hundreds of chapters, it's definitely worth a read. And the thing is, it's not over. They're on 412 right now and still releasing with no signs of an end, although there are some moderate twists (albeit, with predictable results) a little bit after 400.

The ecchi can get a bit annoying if you don't enjoy it, as there's a ton of it and it gets less and less censored as the story goes on. I didn't mind it. Quick rundown of the content: martial arts, superhuman masters, and boobs.

Lately I've just been crusing really old manga/anime; Alot of new stuff just isn't as original, daring character-wise, or art-intensive enough to keep me interested. Would be super brilliantcake if anybody could suggest similar works to any of these goodies. :3

- Paranoia Agent (Anime)
How could I of forgotten about that show. It was freakin' incredible, and made no sense...especially the ending.
p. sad the creator passed away a while ago.

It made total sense if you paid attention to the symbolism. A hint: the scene at the beginning of the series with all those people saying "It's not my fault." is important.

Paprika was also better than Paranoia Agent, but I wasn't sure if I should mention that, given it's a film and not strictly an anime or manga.

01-23-2011, 03:02 PM
Yea, I mean for the most part it didn't make 'clear' sense, you had to dig and dig and dig...which just isn't my style.
Although the intro I noticed that it's just people laughing while some odd danger is behind them in the bg lol...most badass one has to be the nuke going off.

01-25-2011, 05:38 AM
Well, okay - it's about people trying to escape from themselves, metaphorically or (in the case of the woman with split personalities) physically. The most common metaphor is "escaping from the consequences of one's own actions" and Shonen Bat represents the means of escape for most people, which is a sort of spiritual suicide.

This is also how Shonen Bat was created - the creator claimed that she'd been attacked by a boy with a baseball bat and that he'd killed her dog, when she'd actually been irresponsible and let the dog run into the road through her own carelessness - Shonen Bat doesn't actually exist, he's an anthromorphic personification of people's desire to escape. That revelation comes fairly late in the series.
The point Kon is trying to make is that we should accept ourselves and deal with any problems rather than constantly denying that there is a problem or shifting the blame onto others - hence the violent death of all the commuters we saw at the start of the series saying "It's not my fault."

01-26-2011, 02:09 PM
Blood+, Fullmoon,Kimi ni todoke, kaicho wa maid-sama,Vampire Knight,Kissxsis,D.N Angel,Aishiteruze Baby, Bokura ga ita, Byousoku 5 Centimeter, Howl's moving castle, Lovely Complex.

01-26-2011, 02:21 PM
Favorite = Bakuman
2nd = Full Metal Alchemist
3rd = Zatch Bell!
4th = Ranma 1/2
5th = YuYu Hakusho

There's my top five. I really don't want to write my top ten, mainly because I can't think of anymore besides Naruto, which, I lost a vital interest in. With that said, all of you - yes, ALL OF YOU - have to read Bakuman if you want to become a manga-ka. It kind of gives me optimistic thoughts and hope to look forward to, and at the same time teaches me all I need to know about a manga-ka's life.

01-26-2011, 03:19 PM
Yea, I mean for the most part it didn't make 'clear' sense, you had to dig and dig and dig...which just isn't my style.

You would rather it be spelled out for you like you're a child? That's ten times worse.

Also paranoia agent was easy. Watch it again now that you're older and smarter. The only episode that might throw you off is the one with the suicide trio.

01-26-2011, 08:33 PM
True bruh, I was watching that show like 4 yrs ago when I was turbotarded. But now I don't feel like looking up all the eps lol. Oh well. Oh another to the list of anime.

S-Cry-Ed. <<<badass

01-27-2011, 01:16 AM
Scryed is good, but the ending is bad...

01-27-2011, 02:40 AM
Scryed is so by the numbers.

Hotheaded hero who never backs down.

Calm, calculating rival who is polar opposite of hero.

Chick where you're like are they friends or more or what?

The only cool thing about that show was how the main character would just spin around before he punched dudes.

01-27-2011, 10:37 AM
My mom used to watch S Cry ed. I saw a couple episodes, but didn't get very far (dunno why I didn't watch more...)

I've probably listed these before, but hey, I'll do it again :) No particular order...

Cowboy Bebop
Fooly Cooly (manga and anime)
Full Metal Alchemist (still need to see Brotherhood) (manga and anime)
Sailor Moon (Japanese version, the American version I realize was censored and changed and blah.) (manga and anime)
Fushigi Yuugi (manga and anime)
God Child (manga)
Rg Veda (manga)

so on so forth. There's more, but I'm too lazy to think now, and I'm sure you guys don't want to read more ;)

02-02-2011, 04:55 PM
I'm watching NANA half-ish again, and i really like it.

03-18-2011, 11:41 PM
GURREN LAGANN. End of story.

03-18-2011, 11:42 PM
Laon, D.Gray-Man, Otomen, and.....Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei for the manga.

Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, Soul Eater, Panty and Stocking, and Yu Yu Hakusho for the anime.

03-19-2011, 10:03 AM
Sayonara Zetsubou sensei was...weird.

03-19-2011, 08:14 PM
Soul Eater
Infinite Stratos (wish it didn't have the ecchi/harem crap in it though)
Code Geass
Eureka Seven
Ouran Highschool Host Club
Special A
Chibi Vampire
some Gundam (I really need to watch more)
Full Metal Panic (I need to finish watching this)
Elfen Lied
Spice And Wolf

Deadman's Wonderland
No Bra

03-19-2011, 11:39 PM
Sayonara Zetsubou sensei was...weird.

That's why I like it. xD it's the best satire ever.

03-21-2011, 08:23 AM
I gotta check it out then, if you liked it
