Because I love to draw(though I'm not good at it :D), I would prefer Manga, cause that it where most animes started..

But some mangas and its anime version are good, though some translation doesn't seem lke the manga version.. Death Note is good.. (for me)

I say manga, because it is more fun to draw in the form of manga. Especially the entertainment like, Maximum Ride the manga version. The have a really good story line

Manga

Anime is usually very bad, unless they are "original", not taken from a manga. Also i guess its the tropes and that the japanese anime market has been focusing on otakus/hardcore anime fanatic.

Maybe going a bit off topic, but could some one recommend me a good anime?

Cowboy Bebop (series)
Princess Mononoke (movie)
Millennium Actress (movie)
Vampire Hunter D (uh...both, can't remember their titles)
Karas (Two part series, just two DVDs)
Twelve Kingdoms (very slow, but good. Only problem: no real ending cause the novelist the anime is based on hasn't finished the series yet...also kinda slow, but I enjoyed it.)

edit: forgot to mention the last one there is a series

Whichever medium has the better art, because hey, the storyline is usually the same...

I preferred FMA Brotherhood over the manga though. In my opinion, just the presence of color made the show as a whole a lot less darker than its pen-and-paper counterpart.

Most of these are old anime series (when anime was smart and with a meaning) or movies (with big budget and of course a meaning behind).

For me, Anime is dead, was killed by otakus, weeabo, wanabyjapaneses kids and of course the companies. And the only thing I can enjoy are mangas.

Hmm, after reading a few manga over the weekend, I think I prefer a great anime over a great manga, but in general the quality of manga is much higher.

Ha ha ha! The anime's ok, but man, I laugh my ass off when Light seriously and all melodramatically grabs a chip from the bag and is all "I'll take a chip, and then EAT IT!" It's like, dude, chill out, no need for the melodrama.

I personally like the manga better, but I don't mind the anime--it's one of the few I can get my boyfriend to watch, so I guess that's something.

Agree. That's why I prefer the original medium. If the original medium is anime, then it could be good (hint: EVA, Cowboy B.)

BTW, there are reasons why anime is "worse" than manga. Anime quality is getting worse and worse lately could be because of these reasons too.
1. Anime is much harder to make. Meaning we need more money to make it, more time, more people, etc. Even a single OP song could cost millions (in yen).
2. Sponsor/higher-ups interference. Since anime need more money, we need sponsor/company backing. And as we all know as an artist, businessman doesn't understand art, they only know how to count.
3. For anime that follows long-running manga series, filler is unavoidable and I guess no one likes filler.
4. It's very hard to copy other's style. And it's also very hard to grasp all the meaning or the story of someone else's manga.
5. There are more and more anime company that outsource their anime (like Korea). I'm not saying Korea's animation quality is bad... but outsourcing always mean something...
6. Animator (and other profession alike, except for some important people) are getting paid dirt. They don't have time for their own life but they're wage is very very low (lower than average income, from what I saw in NHK).

Thanks for the suggestions. I have watched Cowboy bebop (need to *coughdownloadcough* it again), I've watched princess Mononoke and I've been thinking about watching Millennium Actress. Im not that interested in watching death note. Seen some parts but i prefer the manga. I'll check out the other ones though.

I have to agree with Lvuer. If the could remove the "cluncky" system built around the animation industry in japan, it will look totally different.

half true, although long running series do tend to be unavoidable in their production of filler, this is more the fault of making an anime while a manga is still running. this is kind of stupid (well ignoring the idea that you won't know if a manga is popular when/if it ends so why wait to make your money?) seeing as anime really tends to move faster than manga, taking the arbitrary example of the Zabuza bridge battle in Naruto; manga took 11.5 chapters(22-34), anime took 7.5 (12-19) episodes.

also filler is not innately bad, but any series with a narrative of some kind will always have the issue of creating random plot holes with big filler ( i.e whole filler episodes/story arcs as opposed to dragging a conversation out for a few extra lines as)

I prefer anime because I like seeing movement. Something that's always been a preference to me.

And not all anime that is adapted and not completely original is awful, some of the best series I've watched are adaptations with their own twist to it.

The first Full Metal anime was pretty good. I think they did great finishing up the series, since the manga hasn't been completed yet. It was pretty inventive.

@Bardic-Dragoon:
That is not stupid. If they wait till the manga is over (which is only God knows when), the hype would be already over (and people could already lazy to watch it and prefer another show/manga).

Besides, people always love "the latest". Like, this is the latest anime from the currently best selling manga.

And yes, I agree not all filler is bad. I really like Card Captor Sakura filler since it feels the gap that manga left behind nicely.
