I've been thinking about starting my own manga, but never have got around to it (laziness  ) so anyways I've been trying to figure out the process of making a page/chapter/etc. and I've been toying with ideas... but then of course I can't seem to find one. So what process(es) do you guys go through to make your pages? (this includes dialog)

If you want to learn how to start your own manga, maybe you should try looking at some manga for examples.

Well, I don't write the manga I do (I simply do the artwork) but the scripts I get simply go like this:

PersonA: (while doing such and such action) This is where my dialogue would go if I weren't just an example!

PersonB: (while performing another action) Hey! At least you have dialogue!

Something like that. With that script, I create thumbnails, which are quick little sketches of how the panels will be laid out, where the characters will be, and placement of the speech bubbles and sound effects. For doing those I split a side of paper into 4 sections, one for each comic page. That way, I can fit 8 comic page thumbnails per sheet of paper.

Then, I start to loosely sketch out each page. When the entire chapter is sketched, I'll go back and refine those sketches, and start to ink the pages. Once I finish inking one page, I scan it in, tone it, work on adding/erasing extra lines, add in the text, and finish it up.

This was a problem I had for a while myself. I personally have been better at writing than art for a while so I was too wordy if you would with my character's dialog. What I eventually came up with and what I do now is do a breif outline of what I want to happen in this chapter. Then I break it down to a page by page of what the main focus will be that page. These are short 1-2 sentences most. Next I do a paragraph for each page o a separate sheet of paper fleshing out the details of that page. This is where I get to the real writing. It can be as long or short as I need.
Up to this point is easy the tough choices are next. First based off your paraghraph for the page you decide how many panels you will need. I used to have up to a dozen panels on one page. Honestly that's really a lot more work than you should need to do for one page. Now I try to limit myself to or fewer panels a page, seven tops. A this point I discribe the scene in the panel the actions that are happening an any dialogue that may be needed. Try not to be too wordy if you can. Let the art show what's happening and use as little talking as needed to convey what the characters are talking about. Hope this helps if you want I could type up what my folder looks like for a comic I'm working on.

The proces is is simple.

1.- Idea, you need to make a idea, elavorate character and give the shape of the story.
2.- When you are clear about what you want to make and how the story is going to developt you start writing the script and plot.
3.- When you have ready the script you go for references for the different scenes, also something very used is photographie (you can take pictures with the background you want and make people acting as the characters so you know how to put them in the draws).
4.- Drawing.
5.- Fixs, work with photoshop or inking.
6.- See that every you want is done.

This is a resume of the proces, I think there is more information in the main page of MT.
