Minecraft is a neat indie game you can find at http://minecraft.net/. It's really hard to explain what it is exactly, but if you've ever played with legos you will probably enjoy it. Here I'm just going to post screenshots of the stuff I'm doing in game to hopefully inspire people to check it out.

Trailer for the game here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogA9Bhh4luA

The purpose of the game is to just basically survive. You can gather blocks and other things to create buildings. You can p much just do whatever you want.

Original OP

Spoiler! :
I'll start with my first home. You have to build some sort of shelter because at night all these monsters come out and try to kill you.
[spoiler]From the outside. I built this pretty quick into the game.
Image

On the inside. Note the cool paintings you can use to decorate with.
Image

This is my first excavation site. It goes pretty far down into the earth, and also has a secret tunnel into my house.
Image

In that secret tunnel I have a little lounge I call the bat cave.
Image

My house from far away.
Image

My castle, Quarrelsome Castle.

[spoiler]The outer gate. There are like 9 gates because I'm paranoid.
Image
Image

If you go up those stairs you reach the main gait.
Image

When you walk in you see this.
Image

This is the room under the stairs. There is a tunnel here that can go to the dock house or my house. Harry Potter also lives in here.
Image

The study. I mean it will be after I get some bookshelves. Right now its just a room with chairs that leads out to the garden.
Image

Which is this. Its actually a blank space but I will eventually have flowers here.
Image

Stairway up to the second floor.
Image

The second floor is pretty bare bones. There's a bathroom on the left and then a ladder that leads to the watch tower. Of course there is a balcony.
Image
Image

As far as defenses go I kind of went all out. This is a great wall I built around the castle. On the right side the wall has 2 layers, so even if they make it past the first wall its like awww mannn.
Image

Fuckin pigs in my moat.

I got kind of bored of Quarrelton so I thought I might set out until I realized just how huge this world was.

Exploration:

Spoiler! :
This is from the same island as Quarrelton. There are just mountains everywhere.
Image

As I explored a bit more I found another mountainous island which I think is north because it was snowing over there.
Image

Hunting pigs
Image

I also went on some one piece-esque adventures on some of these islands. That one with the tree was just full of cows. Like cow island or something.
Image

Other Buildings
Spoiler! :
I built these docks for my imperialist quest to take over the world but now that I see its giant Im just gonna build a town here.
Image

I also built a light house near the docks. This way if I ever get lost in the ocean I can find my way back.

In construction
Image

Shot from my balcony of a half finished light house.
Image

Same angle with the (pretty much) completed light house.
Image

On the flip side, here is the castle from the point of view of the light house.

Creative mode is free and survival mode you pay 13 bucks but when its released you dont have to pay anymore. If you wait you'll have to pay more.

I was checking out the multiplayer servers and they are just insane. Some people built an entire city that actually looks like new york. There's another star wars themed one with replicas of the ships and you even start out in this giant death star.

The penny arcade server has a fucking sewer system. I got lost in it.
