Im just wondering if its possible to construct a real life robot (close to gundam) that is actually capable in warfare?

They have made real-life size models but that's not the same thing as having a working machine that operates and does as it's supposed when operated by a pilot. I doubt we're anything near an operational, working Gundam. I've seen exo-skeletons and other bionics parts but it's still along way, imo, before we get into such higher tech.

Not until carbon nanotubes become cheap and widely available.

Do you plan on taking over the world with a giant robot?

I think that a smaller robot would have to be made before a large robot was made. You got to think about the cost to make one of these. The cost alone would keep anyone from making them.

I could see big business building a giant robot army to protect their empire. Then we'd all have to pool together to build our own army to save ourselves.

It would be epic.

In theory at least, a smaller robot that can walk and a larger robot should have very similar chipsets and programming. The algorithms and such, at least in theory (not accounting for the higher effect of wind on a larger robot, for example) should be the same, just larger. Thus the problem lies primarily in the mass-to-size ratio of the robot, which is mostly an engineering rather than a computing problem. The cost of making a larger robot should thus be rather less than one would expect if it were a simple matter of scaling the price of the small robot to make the large robot - with the addition, of course, of the price of solving the engineering problems of creating a robot of that size that doesn't collapse under its own weight and the additional problem of making it able to y'know, move. Although that should still be a great deal less than a simple scaling of the smaller robot's cost to its size. Moreover, taking into account the advance of technology over time, it could easily be possible to construct a 40-foot robot within 30 years at an affordable price.

In conclusion, then, it doesn't look like you fully considered all of the factors inherent in creating and then scaling up a gundam-sized robot.

Something have to be clear in here. Gundams are not robots, are more closer to armors than robots.

Also there are a lot of robotos so You should make a further investigation before making this thread.

One of the lastest new about robots was a robot that move using Kinect.

Never say never, even though I just didn't follow my advice and said it twice. Maybe not today, but if we survive long enough so that civilization or the Earth doesn't break down, then big chances are in about approximately 100-300 years, we'll have those built. My hypothesis isn't just a random "blurb" though. A robotic body is being built by Stephen Hawking as I type this message in, and in quite a few decades, we shall have robots and such.

Capable of warfare? Maybe. Actually useful?

Not in a world where tanks exist. Not really.

Idk Jubeh man, they could have application as a more manouverable version of a tank, as in a walking tank rather than a super robot.

what we need are tanks controled by remotes.

Also a walking tank would suck, the gravity center would be to up, and thats bad. Also tanks use tracks, this allow the tank to travel safe in most terrains.

Now, bipedal robots for the common day life is also a bad idea. Because bipdel movement is not efficient, and tracks keep being a better option (of course the problems for tracks are stairs).

And to make a humanoid robot, it would need so much articulations, that it would be impossible to make one of a normal human size (with today technology), and doing a robot bigger than a person, this also means weight, and the robot might be unable to handle that.

A giant robot would take a lot of energy to operate, wouldn't it? It'd be horribly inefficient, like a car that gets 1 MPG.
