I'm not even a native English speaker, and I can tell you right off the bat that speaking and/or writing in English will be extremely hard if you try to work things out rule by rule.

I suggest readings tons of novels for fun and listening to audiobooks. In fact, try starting out with some popular novels in audiobook form and listen to those. Most English speakers don't even know the rules that govern their own language but manage it perfectly since they've subconsciously grasped it all. I mean, you Spanish speakers get to say all those verb forms without thinking twice about it, so in the same way, your learning approach should be informal and easygoing.

Oh, good Maude:

I before E except after C unless it sounds like "ay" or is weird.

What kind of RULE is that?! I hate English, haha.

And throw in some French. A lot of it actually. Just no-one seems to be able to recognize it.
