The 19th century. The industrial revolution. Things are changing faster than ever before- Europe is at the height of its power. Technology is advancing in a clear straight line, zooming past the veils steam and smoke and fire. Year after year, new ideas are made into reality and the human race is doing what many before them never could imagine- flying, diving, producing and manufacturing in mass quantities. Progress.
Inventing has become a popular job. With the new materials and new types of machinery, people have made a living by making never before seen gadgets. From the Robert Stevenson's locomotives to Thomas Crapper's popularized toilet, things seem to be in the best of the best for the occupation. But a dark shadow casts over the countries of the west. A killer is mercilessly slaughtering inventors all around Europe. One was beaten to death by a spanner. Another had been thrown into their own furnace. No-one knows who it is or why it is doing it. The only thing it leaves is a single letter of the alphabet written with the remains of the poor victim.
A message has been sent to all major inventors from their government. A five-page long letter with the royal seal and the mark of the government of that country. The first 4 pages are completely useless, ensuring that the person that it has been sent to is safe (this is clearly a lie), that full compensation will be paid for the trouble caused (another lie) and the fact that all inventors have been invited to an international dinner party for 'fun in the darkest hour'. However, the fifth page is a list of the fellow inventors that are obvious targets and their contacts. Finally and most importantly, a message is scribbled on the back of the fifth page in red ink.

Do not look into the eyes of the scarecrow.

In this RP, you will play as an inventor who is under the potential threat of the murderer. The RP will begin when your character meets his fellow inventors at the dinner party in the country estate of Herr Lindermann where they have been invited to a dinner party.

This RP is just for fun, so please excuse any historical inaccuracies. In fact, think of this world as a parallel universe, actually.

His father was a very rich inventor, but he was killed by the strange murderer not long ago. Romeo inherited his fortune, but didn't inherit his determination. His sister and mother are still left alive trying to encourage Romeo to put his quick wits to good use.
Appearance: A young Italian man with a head of rich black hair but a rather skinny body. He's stronger than he looks, but that still isn't saying much seeing as he's quite scrawny. He has dark blue eyes and shiny white teeth.
Expertise: Romeo specializes in machines using gunpowder or other explosives. One of the only things he finds interesting in life is the flare of fireworks up in the sky and the art of an explosion.
Weapon of Choice: A revolver is Romeo's weapon of choice, even though he'd much rather not fight at all. When he's forced into a corner and has to fight he prefers to use his specially tinkered with firearms that he's fine-tuned to be more effective in his hands.
Job: While Romeo could probably get a job, he lacks the drive and determination to follow through so just lives in a life of inheritance and tinkering away with small machines.

He has some experience with electicity, but he fails miserably, as his sister is the one who does that.

By the time he was twenty he had established an invention company that sold everything from weapons to tools.
Appearance: Jack Errin is a tall man at 6'0". He has sandy brown hair and some light facial hair to match. He wears an old sun worn hat atop his medium length locks that barely covered his emerald eyes. His shirt is a faded red and yellow plad button up that is tucked into some large-around-the-waste old jeans that are help up with a newer brown belt. When reading he puts on some slim blue-grey reading spectacles. Upon heading outside he dons a long black leather coat that is the newest piece of clothing he owns. (Picture to be coming.)
Expertise: Solar and Neuclear. He minors in wind energy.
Weapon of Choice: During his youth he came up with designs for a suit that would fit an average human male. The suit runs off of nuclear, solar, and wind power. It is 6'0" tall, grey in color with all it's symbols marked in a bright green. It's arm cannon has some flaws in comfortability, but that would have to be put on the back burner until he could manage to get it to fold back and be comfortable at the same time. The rest of the model fits comfortably about his form, making sure that he is fully protected from small arms and short drops.
Job: He works as a freelancer during the time when he isn't inventing. This is his way of bringing more money in for parts.

Character history: Son of Admiral Da Silva, Henrique was allways directed towards the sea. At age 7 he had allready been at almost every continent, traveling between the colonies of the Portuguese empire with his father. He studied at Sagres fortress, and learned everything there is to know about Ships and the 7 oceans. During his formation Henrique showed amazing skill at crafting instruments, and developed sveral techniques that helped his motherland expand it´s Empire. At age 24 he was hired by Companhia Das Indias Orientais (Eastern Indian Companies) and serves this company until this day as one of it´s major Admirals and naval technology developer.
Appearance: Henrique is a avarage looking man, standing 5´8 tall, brown eyes and hair. His hair is in a ponytail. He uses a Admiral Coat and a black shirt underneath it. He has some dark blue pants and around them there is a sword strap that holds his both his sword and equipment. Covering his feet there are some olde black boots. Sometimes he also uses an Admiral hat.
Expertise: Wind and Hydro Power
Weapon of Choice: Being an exelent sharpshoter Henrique carries around with him a modified Rifle.

Character History: Her father was a well-known police officer and her mother was a nurse that helped clients that had not the money to go to a 'proper' establishment for treating. Her mother was known as the 'London Saint' or 'Priestess'. She had simple and pleasurable childhood until her fourteenth year when her parents were killed; her father on his journey home and her mother killed in the clinic in which she worked. In the years following, she dedicated herself to providing help for the people of the city. She developed things such as pharmaceutical products and even upgrades to the police forces weaponry. In exchange for the help, she often gains information of Major Crime that may pertain to the culprit. She has not learned much but she received word of a gathering of inventors under threat of a mass murderer that kills its victims using their tools; similar to the way her parents were killed- her mother by an overdose of drugs and her father (although not an inventor or developer) killed by his own pistol. Regardless that she was not invited, she attends the gathering in hopes that she will learn more about the killer.
Expertise: She has general versatility but specializes in Steam & Electrical energy out of favouritism.
Appearance: She has been complimented by many men and women (don't get the wrong idea) that is very good looking. Has long brown hair but has found ways to dye it several different colours, one of which being her current hair colour- blonde. She has blue eyes. She is a tall woman towering at 6'4 feet and wears small, rectangular, frame-less glasses and is often seen wearing dark lace clothing like tonight. Also currently, she wears a long coat.
Weapon of Choice: Over the years, she had been developing a coat which contains many portables (knives, smoke bombs, even medicinal equipment such as tonics, etc....). She carries around a rapier named Galli for self defence. It is rumoured that she carries weapons on every part of her body i.e daggers in boots, etc..)
Job: Unemployed but generally a city 'Hero'. Is in the process of writing a novel.

Character history: Born in the dirty, dusty slums of London, orphaned Sparrow wandered around London begging outside a watch makers store. After seven years of sitting outside, watching the person there sell and repair and make watches, and listening to the constant ticking, fell in love with the technology of clockwork. At the age of twelve, he 'accidentally' destroys most of the shop with an incident involving a spoon and a runaway chicken, and is 'forced' to work at the shop. There, he learns most of what he knows. The old man running the store soon died of natural causes and with no relatives left, Sparrow inherited it. For the next twelve years, the shop became an insane workshop for Jimmy's quite frankly insane mind. Although not having any connection at all with the killer, he is on the list of possible victims.
Appearance: A man that is quite on the short side, with brownish-red hair and bright, wide, green eyes. He always wears the same coal and oil stained shirt that is missing the top button and a pair of old brown trousers that used to be owned by the old man. Scruffy beyond words. It also should be noted that Sparrow has a very, very thick silly goose accent.
Expertise: Clockwork technology
Weapon of Choice: Any blunt weapon he can find lying on the floor. He also has a big wooden box that he carries with him, containing his best of creations.

Though he was only ten, Amou was grief stricken at the loss of his father and seemed to understand the concept of death at a very young age. Amou's mother always insisted on creativity and tried very hard to influence Amou and his brothers into taking up an artistic career. Amou grew up without any true formal education only attending school for a year past the death of his father. However, since his leave from school, Amou developed an interest in machinery, particularly electrical technology. Amou moved to Paris at the age of 17 and began his career in inventing there. He worked in a rented workshop until the age of 20 until he was finally able to open his own workshop. Amou has recently left Paris for the estate of Herr Lindermann.
Appearance: Amou has very fair hair, and slightly pale skin, more pale than the average man's at least. He constantly has a 5 'o clock shadow. He is a tall man, standing at 6'1". On top of his height, Amou is extremely thin as he is constantly so engrossed in whatever project he is currently working on he often forgets to eat. He wears goggles that are constantly atop his head or over his eyes. Amou has a slight social disorder, as he cannot look most people in the eyes and often has difficulty getting his point across. He is a somewhat quiet man who only voices his opinions when necessary.
Expertise: Amou's expertise lies in the development of Electrical machinery, however he also dabbles in Steam machinery.
Weapon of Choice:Amou carries a prototype of his which he calls Le Baton de la Douleur, or The Stick of Pain, it is a type of electric shock weapon similar to early forms of an electric cattle prod. Le Baton, constantly needs to be recharged, and as such, Amou also carries a large hunting knife on his person.
Job: Amou is not only an inventer, but he is also what he considers to be a painter. He has sold a grand total of one painting.

Character history: She doesn't talk much, but was a child prodigy and is very intelligent. She had a rich childhood, raised by both parents and sent to the most expensive boarding school. The 'friends' she made only wanted her money, so she doesn't trust easily. Her father was a wellknown inventor and she followed in his footsteps. Unfortunately, her father was beaten to death with a spanner. She is determined to find out who is responsible for his death.
Appearance: Dirty blonde hair, pale skin and eyes so dark that they look black. She is average sized and skinny, and often wears baggy, dirty clothes. If she took pride in her appearance, she could be very beautiful.
Expertise: Renewable energy, but she is very good at picking locks.
Weapon of Choice: She carries a rather sharp knife, which is tied to her arm and under her sleeve.
Job: Inventor, but she also gardens for old people and makes them tea.
