You should put a metallic material on the mask next time.

@Matt: Thankyou. Well, lack of tutorials, I use this site for a bunch of I stuff I don't know yet. And the plasticness of the mask, probably due to the material I used lol.
@Linz: Scary THICK neck is scary, and it wants YOU.
@Cype: I was going to initially. But it took away from a lot of the details I wanted to show off. So I set it as a green clay material that worked pretty good. If I polypainted this one, it would be easier lol.

Bah. Yers I've been on a 3D rampage lately, and I've been getting better. WOOT!...but at a major cost of time...guess it's worth it lol. I decided to do a sword this time around. I did the whole thing in 3Ds Max, the sculpting was done in Zbrush.

The inital concepts. Front and Side view. Used these for the modeling reference on planes.
Image
The Hi-Res model after sculpting details in Zbrush, and changing the shape.

Left: The base mesh for the sword, modeled in 3Ds Max, and using the concepts.
Right: The sculpted version imported from Zbrush. Using Decimation Master I got the poly-count down to about 10,000, still keeping most of the details. And then did a clay render in 3Ds Max.
Image
This is just for show, I dunno really...I used one of the basic Zbrush tools: Super Average Man. And added a cloth using Retopology and subtool extraction. The hair was made crappily in a few minutes using a Zsphere and using Zsketch, then just sculpting on it a bit. The pose was done using transpose.

So I've been catching up on my sucky modeling skills (not sculpting...modeling).
This was all done in 3Ds Max except the body, which was made using Zbrush Zspheres. It's still a WIP. I'm going for a bulky Gears of War/Unreal Tournament kind of character...just buff and lots of armor and little straps and packs and shit.
Plus I finally figured out how to use splines for stuff like straps and etc....and I'm going crazy with it. Also I found out how to weld edges finally, which was holding me back in previous adventures.
This took HOURS...and I'm still working on it, so over 24 hours I've been working on this, god I'm slow. I hope it pays off in the long run.
Image

This is a prop I did. All of it was done in Zbrush except those little bars inside of it. Just more practice, I figured props would be a good way to warm up for bigger stuff I guess.
Image
This took a few minutes...like 30 maybe, at the most.

Loving your new work. You're definately improving. That utility vest is fkin epic. I really like the sword aswell, I like seeing how you work and what process you go through. The sword reminds me of a tower of somesort, it's really unusual. xD

Anyway braw stuff, keep it up. Although I would like to see more sketches/CG's from you. :}

Mind you Zbrush and XSI are completely different tools...

Gunz, have you practised baking your details into normal maps for low poly objects? Because you should, you know :P
I'm anxious to see what you're going to make of that soldier :)

@Ego: Thanks man. Well..hm..texturing. I've thought about it, but probably not. Maybe some things, but not all.
@Linz: Lawl, tower sword is a good description for it. And yea. I've been obsessing with 3D lately. And it's been killing any drawing ideas I'd have. I'll start drawing more soon. Right after I finish the soldier.
@Jai: Hahahaha...oh, thanks. >_>
@Shiny: Thnx. Well, I've never used XSI, but I know it's not a sculpting program. Dude, you could just try out MudBox, Sculptris, or Blender for that if Zbrush isn't working.
@Lucifer: Yep, I've done it before, using Zbrush 3.1's Zmapper. But now I have to figure it out all over again, since I'm using 3.5R3 now, they took Zmapper away, and now I have no idea how to export my normal maps.

This...is a face, I drew up a very quick side and front reference before working on this. Set up the planes. Started off with one poly. And began edge extruding all over the place.
This had to do with LOTS and LOTS of welding, and for most of it I worked in the front and side view.
***This is my first time trying to model using this method...so bear with me here lol. It got tedious at the end, so I just left the back of the head open.
Done completely in 3Ds Max 2010
Image

More prop modeling...it's a barrier. I did the base in 3Ds Max, and sculpted stuff in Zbrush. Then used Decimation Master and sent it back to Max. And did a clay render.

Loving the profile sketch. He seems so manly~<3 Was that barrier influenced by some form of recent activity? XD Anyway, it's great. Love the texture, Looks like a propah real barrier innit.

Again, I would like to see more sketches/drawings/paintings.
